Creative Arts Camp Brings “New York, New York” Theme to The Spotlight Playhouse June 8 to 12

BEREA, Ky. — Spotlight Acting School will offer an immersive week of summer enrichment for local students from June 8 to 12 with the return of its annual Creative Arts Camp at The Spotlight Playhouse in Berea.

🗓 Dates: June 8 to 12
📍 Location: The Spotlight Playhouse, 214 Richmond Road, Berea
🎭 Theme: “New York, New York”
👧🧒 Ages: Students entering rising 1st grade to 9th grade
💲 Tuition:$150 per student (non-refundable; not pro-rated)

The camp’s 2026 theme is “New York, New York,” featuring specialized activities inspired entirely by the energy, historic architecture, and bright lights of Broadway and the New York creative arts scene.

The Creative Arts Camp is open to students entering rising 1st grade to 9th grade. Daily camp sessions will take place inside the main performance spaces at The Spotlight Playhouse, located at 214 Richmond Road in Berea.

🎨 Age-Tailored Summer Enrichment

To maximize engagement, camp curriculum and hands-on activities are carefully divided by age group. This ensures younger campers explore introductory performing concepts in a supportive environment, while intermediate students tackle more advanced visual projects and staging styles.

Spotlight organizers design the camp as a low-pressure pathway for students to sample different creative fields and cultivate a lifelong appreciation for the performing arts. The curriculum is optimized for youth who naturally enjoy theater, music, visual illustration, and collaborative projects, as well as children looking for a fun, interactive summer experience without the high-stress commitment of a rigid production or rehearsal schedule.

The five-day program provides young people a dedicated space to create, perform, imagine, and develop foundational team-building skills alongside their peers.

🥪 Tuition and Lunchroom Logistics

The total cost for the weekly session is $150 per student. Camp tuition is non-refundable and will not be pro-rated for partial attendance.

Daily Lunch Rules: Campers must bring a packed lunch each day. However, the playhouse guidelines note that parents may also arrange to have food delivered directly to the venue for their student via local pizza vendors or digital delivery services like DoorDash and Uber Eats.

Orientation Paperwork: All required medical waivers, emergency contact forms, and sign-out permissions are completed on-site during the initial Monday morning drop-off window.

Special Needs Accommodations: The online payment gate requires the student’s name and legal age to secure an active slot. Families are encouraged to share any specific dietary restrictions, medical allergies, or developmental needs with instructions at the first drop-off line to ensure staff alignment.

The camp represents a core component of Spotlight Acting School’s comprehensive 2026 summer lineup, which includes seasonal performance workshops, technical theater clinics, and multi-age productions.

With the camp beginning June 8, families who are still looking for a local summer arts option should register soon so their student has a reserved spot before the week begins.
