BEREA, Ky. — A new community learning initiative called FreeSkool is launching in Berea this weekend at HomeGrown HideAways, starting with an orientation and site tour on Saturday and a garden planning session with a seed swap on Sunday.
FreeSkool is being promoted as a grassroots, place-based learning series where community members can share skills and teach short classes in an informal setting. This first weekend is designed to introduce the concept and help people plug in as both learners and potential instructors.
🗓️ Saturday, Feb. 7: Info Session & Tour
- Time: 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- The Plan: The kickoff is an information session and tour that highlights what resources are available at HomeGrown HideAways (kitchens, pavilion, trails) for hosting future classes and workshops. It’s the best starting point for anyone interested in teaching or organizing a session later in the year.
🌻 Sunday, Feb. 8: Garden Planning & Seed Swap
- Time: 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- The Plan: Sunday’s gathering focuses on practical spring prep. It’s a “garden planning” meetup plus a seed swap, open to anyone ready to think ahead to planting season. Bring seeds if you have them, or just bring questions.
