Zombie Night: The Musical Brings Spooky Fun to The Spotlight Playhouse 🦮

Halloween season at The Spotlight Playhouse will bring zombies, music, and a lot of humor to the stage when the Bluegrass Players present Zombie Night: The Musical from October 23 through November 1.

I’m directing this production for the Bluegrass Players, our community theatre group at The Spotlight Playhouse, 214 Richmond Road in Berea. The show is a family-friendly Halloween musical about surviving the undead with teamwork, courage, and humor.

The book is by Tim Kelly, with music by Bill Francoeur and lyrics by Scott DeTurk. The runtime is approximately 110 minutes, and all ages are welcome.

We have five performances scheduled across two weekends. Opening weekend begins Friday, October 23, at 8:00 p.m., followed by another 8:00 p.m. performance on Saturday, October 24. The Sunday, October 25, performance begins at 4:00 p.m.

The second weekend starts Friday, October 30, at 6:00 p.m. There is deliberately no performance on Saturday, October 31, which is Halloween night itself. The final performance is Sunday, November 1, at 2:00 p.m.

That gives families several chances to work the show into their Halloween plans while leaving Halloween night open for trick-or-treating and other community plans.

Friday performances are also part of our Pay What You Can program. Those performances are name-your-own-price, with unsold tickets released two hours before showtime. That applies to both Friday, October 23, and Friday, October 30.

For the other performances, admission and booking information are available online. Tickets can be reserved directly through TicketSource at TicketSource

Accessibility is also part of the seating plan. Wheelchair-accessible seating is available in the front row, along with companion space.

Zombie Night: The Musical takes the familiar idea of a zombie story and turns it into a spooky, music-filled stage show. The undead may be causing the trouble, but this is still a musical built around its characters and the story they are trying to survive.

For us at the Bluegrass Players, this is another chance to put our community performers on stage at The Spotlight Playhouse and give Berea audiences a Halloween-season production with both evening and afternoon performance options. With five performances spread across two weekends, there are several chances to fit the show into a busy October schedule.
