Spotlight Acting School is a performing arts schools for students ages 4 to 18.

Growing Up: A Broadway Revue, Auditions Ages 9-18 (Sept 7 – 11:00am)

Presented by the Spotlight Acting School

All students age 9-18 will be cast. (An age waiver may be requested for younger students and will be approved on a case by case basis.)

Come experience this delightful evening of Broadway magic as students share the wonder of growing up through song. Created by Spotlight Director Sarah Jeck, this one of a kind Broadway experience will entertain all audiences and have them singing along.

Auditions: Sept 7 – 11:00 am

Participants should expect to:
1. Sing part of a song (Preferably a show tune)
2. Move or dance as instructed
3. Possibly read from the script.
4. Optional monologues will be accepted at the end of the group auditions.

Performances: Jan 10-18

Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice kicks off season this weekend-

Spotlight Playhouse announces its 2019-2020 season, showcasing the talents of the non-profit theater’s acting school and professional acting troupes, The Spotlight Players and The Bluegrass Players.

“We’ve added extra shows this year so we can offer a new show every weekend, from August through June,” said Chad Hembree, Executive Director of Spotlight Performing Arts, Inc. “Theater lovers of every genre will be excited to see our exciting line-up of musicals, dramas, comedies, and our popular mystery dinner theaters.”

Join the Cast of Winnie the Pooh – Ages 4-9 (May 25 – 8:30am)

Presented by the Spotlight Acting School.

Performed by Students age 4-9

Welcome to the Hundred Acre Wood, where Winnie the Pooh is once again in search of honey. Along the way, he meets his pals, Tigger, Piglet, Rabbit and Owl, but soon discovers that Christopher Robin has been captured by the mysterious Backson! As they prepare for a rescue operation, the animals learn about teamwork, friendship and, of course… sharing snacks.

No audition is required for guaranteed participation.

Leading roles will be assigned to students with good auditions.

To audition the student will be asked to…

  1. Sing part of a song (Happy Birthday, Twinkle Twinkle, and Jesus Loves Me, are fine choices)
  2. Show facial expressions (Happy, Sad, Angry, etc.)
  3. Move or dance as instructed
  4. Possibly read from the script. (Non-readers will be given assistance.)
