New Music Festival in Richmond Campaigns on Kickstarter

Jubilo Music Arts Festival

The Jubilo Music Arts Festival has some big plans for aspiring college students in Kentucky’s 54 Appalachian counties. It also has big plans for a huge music and arts festival to be staged at Fort Boonesborough State Park in Richmond, Kentucky. Jubilo intends to stage up to 75 regional and national bands from a variety of genres over the course of a 3-day weekend this September. It hopes to build its audience to as many as 25,000 people, boosting area tourism, and spotlighting the area’s state parks, and music and arts community.

The concept of funding projects’ needs with the proceeds from a music event is not necessarily a new idea. But Robyn Burkett Baker, the creator of Jubilo, along with 10 college students and recent grads from Kentucky colleges, has taken the ideas behind events such as Farm Aid, Live Aid, and Hope for Haiti Continue reading New Music Festival in Richmond Campaigns on Kickstarter

Madison County Schools Transportation Department Efficiency

Madison Co. Schools

Madison County Schools Transportation Department saw an increase in miles driven in 2010-2011 over the 2009-2010 school year. However, the level remains near the 2005-2006 miles driven. That level is significant because it is prior to the addition of two additional instructional days required by the state. It is also prior to the opening of B. Michael Caudill Middle School. Since the 2006-2007 school year, the district has added only one bus route — 144 routes total serving 10 elementary schools, 4 middle schools and 2 high schools plus the Bellevue Learning Center. The district still remains more than 144,000 miles driven less than the 2006-2007 school year.

Efficiency is paramount when transporting more than 8,000 students per day to and from school. The department began looking at combining routes and Continue reading Madison County Schools Transportation Department Efficiency
