Madison County Schools Narrows Superintendent Search

The Madison County Board of Education announced it has narrowed its search for the district’s next superintendent to three finalists. Matthew Constant, Elmer Thomas, and Robin Steiner are the three candidates who will be interviewed for the position.

Matthew Constant is currently as assistant superintendent of technology and federal programs for Owensboro Public Schools. From 2008 to 2011, he served as director of instructional technology in Daviess County Public Schools. From 2005 to 2008, he was principal of Daviess County High School.

Madison County Board of Education Names Interim Superintendent

The Madison County Board of Education named Randy Neeley as interim superintendent at its June 13, 2013, regular meeting. Neeley will begin his role as interim superintendent on July 1, 2013, and will continue in that role until a new superintendent is hired by the Board.

Neeley currently serves Madison County Schools as director of pupil personnel, a role he will maintain while serving as interim superintendent. Neeley was named DPP in 2010. Prior to serving as DPP, he served Madison County Schools as principal of White Hall Elementary, assistant principal of Madison Middle, and health teacher at Madison Middle. Neeley’s career in education began in 1994 and he has served his entire career in Madison County Schools.

“Mr. Neeley is a great fit for Madison County Schools as interim superintendent,” said Board Chair Mona Isaacs. “We have every confidence he will make the transition smooth as we move forward in the process of hiring a new superintendent for Madison County Schools.”

Mike’s Kids Education Foundation was created in honor of Billy Michael Caudill, who was superintendent of Madison County Schools from July 2001 to December 2007.

Mike believed in Madison County and every student the school system had in its care. He believed every student had the ability to succeed if they were given the right tools. Mike’s Kids are the students who have the potential of continuing their education but need a little extra push to stay on track and reach their potential. The scholarship recipients are Mike’s Kids who exhibit leadership, trust, good moral character and a caring attitude toward others.

Superintendent Floyd Resigns to Take Position With Department of Education

Madison County Schools Superintendent Dr. Tommy Floyd announced today that he will be leaving the district. Dr. Floyd will become the Chief of Staff for the Kentucky Department of Education.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to be a servant to all Kentucky Public School children and their schools as I settle into this new position,” Floyd said. His duties with the department of education will begin on July 1.

“I am grateful for the invitation from Mike Caudill to join the Madison County Schools team in 2006,” Floyd said. “And I remain very grateful to the entire MCS leadership team for seven wonderful years serving kids here.”

Madison Co. Teacher Elected to Lead Kentucky Education Association

Stephanie Winkler, a fourth- and fifth-grade science teacher at Mayfield Elementary School in Madison County, is president-elect of the Kentucky Education Association. She was elected by delegates to the 141st KEA Delegate Assembly April 4 in Louisville.

Winkler, who earned her teaching certificate from Eastern Kentucky University in 1996 and her master’s degree in 2000, has been teaching for 16 years. She joined the KEA Student Program while she was at EKU, and was state KEA SP president during the 1994-1995 school year. She has served as president of the Madison County Education Association and of the 20-county KEA-Central District. She is a member of the KEA Board of Directors.

“KEA members are the only advocates fighting every day for public school employees as well as public school children,” Winkler said. New Human Resources Director Named for Madison County Schools

Madison County Schools announces today that Dustin Brumbaugh will become Human Resources Director for Madison County Schools. Brumbaugh will begin his duties on July 1.

Brumbaugh currently serves as the principal at Kirksville Elementary. He has served in that capacity for the past 4 years. Prior to becoming principal, Brumbaugh was a teacher at Clark-Moores Middle School.

Madison County Schools Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Kevin Hub will be replacing Assistant Superintendent and Chief Operations Marvin Welch. Welch is retiring affective June 30.

“We are excited to have Mr. Brumbaugh joining us at Central Office,” said Superintendent Tommy Floyd. “He has been a valuable part of the district leadership team as a principal and we look forward to having him join the district administrative team.”

Madison County Schools is cancelling afternoon kindergarten/preschool and the midday bus routes for today, January 31, 2013. Parents of morning kindergarten/preschool students may pick their children up if they choose. Students can also stay at school and be transported this afternoon by bus.
