Robbery/Theft Arrests: On 02/02/2015, police charged Kimberly Kirby, age 51, and Melinda Osborne, age 34, both of Walnut Creek, Berea, for offenses related to a shoplifting incident that occurred a week earlier.

On 01/25/2015, an employee of Kroger, Richmond Plaza, reported that two females, later identified as Kirby and Osborne, were observed exiting the store without paying for several items of merchandise in their possession. Kirby exited first and entered a vehicle at which time she was confronted by two store employees. Kirby refused to cooperate and accelerated her vehicle rapidly in reverse, nearly striking both employees. The Mount Vernon Fire Department responded to the scene of a structure fire on Low Gap Road in Rockcastle County this morning around 8:00 AM. MVFD personnel where assisted at the scene by Pongo, Western Rockcastle and Brodhead with extinguishment of the fire. The occupant of the structure did not escape the fire and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Rockcastle County Coroner. Kentucky State Police are in charge of the investigation.

On Tuesday, February 03, 2015, at approximately 7:54 AM Kentucky State Police Post 11, London was notified of a residential structure fire with a fatality on Low Gap Road in Rockcastle County.

KSP Arson Investigator Detective Brian Lewis along with Detective John Barnett arrived on the scene and discovered the victim Morris Cromer, 55, of Mount Vernon deceased in the bedroom area of the residence.

The cause of the fire has not been determined at this time however, foul play is not suspected. An autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow in Frankfort.

UPDATE: The Golden Alert for Curtis “Curt” J. Rose 83, of Waco, KY has been cancelled. Mr. Rose was found in good condition at approximately 2:50 am this morning in Cabell County, WV.

(Richmond, Ky.) – A Golden Alert has been issued for Curtis “Curt” J. Rose 83, of Waco, KY. Mr. Rose suffers from stages of dementia and was last seen in the area of Dreyfus Road in Madison County at approximately 2:00 p.m. this afternoon.

Rose is described as a white male, approximately 6’1″ tall and weighing 240 lbs. He has brown eyes, gray hair, and may be wearing glasses. Rose was last seen driving a Red 2011 GMC Sierra Extended Cab pickup, with a KY license plate of 101-MKF. Drug Arrests: On 01/31/2015 Officers were called to McDonald’s on Brenwood Street in reference to suspicious activity in the parking lot. They located a male and female who both had slurred speech and appeared to be unsteady on their feet. The female was also in possession of prescription medication that did not belong to her. Both were placed under arrest and Officers later discovered they were in possession of 23 Oxycodone tablets and 18 Alprazolam tablets.

Officers arrested 37 year old Evelyn Long of Evarts KY and 44 year Anthony Carr of Kenvir KY. They were both charged with Public Intoxication, Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st Degree, and Trafficking Controlled Substance 3rd Degree. The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post is reporting the following activity for the month of January, 2015.

Troopers and Detectives issued a total of 2,544 citations, which included 193 for speeding, 8 for no child restraint and 176 for no seatbelts. There were 31 people arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Troopers issued 398 courtesy notices, assisted 69 stranded motorists, and investigated 56 traffic collisions while inspecting 1,789 vehicles. KSP Post 7 to Conducting Periodic Traffic Safety Checkpoints

The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, which provides coverage for Madison, Clark, Estill, Lee, Owsley, Jackson, Mercer, Boyle, Lincoln, Garrard and Jessamine counties, will be conducting periodic traffic safety checkpoints at locations approved by the Kentucky State Police Policy and Procedures Manual. These checkpoints will be conducted in an effort to enforce the traffic laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Special attention will be paid to occupant protection (seatbelt adherence), sobriety, insurance, and registration violations.

A Golden Alert has been issued for Curtis “Curt” J. Rose 83, of Waco, KY. Mr. Rose suffers from stages of dementia and was last seen in the area of Dreyfus Road in Madison County at approximately 2:00 p.m. this afternoon.

Rose is described as a white male, approximately 6’1″ tall and weighing 240 lbs. He has brown eyes, gray hair, and may be wearing glasses. Rose was last seen driving a Red 2011 GMC Sierra Extended Cab pickup, with a KY license plate of 101-MKF. The vehicle has damage to the right and left rear quarter panel and a diamond plated toolbox in the bed.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by Trooper Aaron Hall.

Drug Arrests: On 01/27/2015, police charged Duran A. Estill, age 48, Belmont Drive, and Christopher R. Dean, age 39, Turpin Drive, for drug offenses following an investigation at a local motel.

At approximately 9:11 P.M., Bike Patrol officers investigating reports of drug trafficking from a local motel room made contact with Estill and Dean at the room. A subsequent search of the room produced small quantities of methamphetamine, heroin, and marijuana along with drug paraphernalia commonly utilized in the trafficking of controlled substances, such as packaging materials and scales. Drug use paraphernalia was also found throughout the room, which was rented by Estill. The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post was contacted by Estill County Dispatch just after 10:30 pm last night, in reference to a male that had been shot on Sugar Hollow Road in Estill County.

The initial investigation indicates that Millard E. Dixon, 47 years old of Irvine, was fatally shot during an altercation with his elderly father. The shooting occurred inside his father’s residence at 115 Sugar Hollow Road in Irvine, just before 10:30 pm last night, Tuesday, January 27th. Following the shooting, Dixon was transported to Marcum and Wallace hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.
