Drug Arrests: On 03/07/2015 Officers were called to Speedway in reference to a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. They located one subject sitting in the vehicle and one subject in the store, and both had slurred speech and appeared to be under the influence. Inside of the vehicle they located Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and several different pills. They also located rolling papers and needles.

Drug Arrests and Investigation

On Thursday, March 05, 2015 troopers from Post 11, along with Detectives from KSP Cannabis Suppression Unit executed two search warrants at two separate residences in Rockcastle County that yielded the arrests of eight (8) individuals also the seizure of a 2014 Nissan passenger car, twenty (20) firearms and $6,032.00 in US currency.

The first search warrant was executed at a residence on Kelsey Lane in Mount Vernon, KY where the following individuals were arrested.

On Thursday, March 06, 2015 at approximately 11:57 PM troopers from Post- 11, along with Laurel County Constable Denver Mays executed an arrest warrant at a residence located on US 25, eight (8) miles north of London in Laurel County.

Arrested on the warrant was Leonard Jones, 49, of East Bernstadt, KY and charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 2nd Offense, Drug Paraphernalia Possession and Persistent Felony Offender 2nd.

The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post is reporting the following activity for the month of February, 2015.

Troopers and Detectives issued a total of 1,283 citations, which included 102 for speeding, 4 for no child restraint and 69 for no seatbelts. There were 17 people arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Troopers issued 229 courtesy notices, assisted 444 stranded motorists, and investigated 47 traffic collisions while inspecting 1,162 vehicles. Detectives and Troopers also responded to and investigated 1,019 complaints, opened 44 criminal cases, and made 278 criminal arrests.

KSP to Conduct Periodic Traffic Safety Checkpoints

The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post, which provides coverage for Madison, Clark, Estill, Lee, Owsley, Jackson, Mercer, Boyle, Lincoln, Garrard and Jessamine counties, will be conducting periodic traffic safety checkpoints at locations approved by the Kentucky State Police Policy and Procedures Manual. These checkpoints will be conducted in an effort to enforce the traffic laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Special attention will be paid to occupant protection (seatbelt adherence), sobriety, insurance, and registration violations.

Unlawful Imprisonment: On 03/02/2015 Officers were called to a disturbance at 100 Miracle Street, where the caller stated that a male subject forced a female into an apartment. The apartment was located and once inside they located both subjects locked in a bedroom. An investigation revealed that the female had been assaulted before she attempted to leave, and the male forced her back in the apartment. There was also a domestic violence order in place at the time.

Drug Charges: On 02/27/2015, police charged Craig F. Shearer, age 35, College Hill Road, for drug trafficking following a stop for a traffic infraction.

At approximately 7:14 P.M., an officer stopped a vehicle being driven by Shearer for disregarding a stop sign on Keri Ann Drive. During the course of the stop, officers learned that there existed a bench warrant for Shearer’s arrest from the Estill Circuit Court for violating the conditions of his release on bond in connection with pending criminal charges (Convicted Felon in Possession of Firearm; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Persistent Felony Offender 2nd Degree).

On Thursday, February 26, 2015 at approximately 11:00 PM the Kentucky State Police Post 11, London received a report of a robbery at the Brodhead Tobacco and Tan store in Rockcastle County.

Upon arrival, Trooper Brian Maupin determined that two male subjects entered the store armed with a handgun and knife and demanded money. The store clerk complied and the suspects fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.

On February 25, 2015, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch, assisted by Post 7- Richmond, arrested Frankie H. Hardy, 29, for charges related to possession and distribution of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor.

The Berea Police Department have received word about a phone scam from some of the local banks. People have been receiving phone calls from a number with an 859 area code. The caller states he is with the IRS and is calling to collect money, and asked for payment over the phone.
