At noon Sunday, the Berea Fire Department Honor Guard stepped out of Station 1 in their dress uniforms as part of a ceremony commemorating National Fallen Firefighers Memorial Weekend, sponsored by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

As the honor guard stood in silence, the emergency lights were illuminated and the sirens were activated for a moment in honor of firefighters who had made the ultimate sacrifice for their fellow citizens and their communities.
After the sirens went silent, the detail marched over to the flag pole to lower the American flag to half mast.
