Number of fires slightly up in August say Berea Fire Department public service Statistics

The Berea Fire Department responded to more fires in August than in July, and conducted a lot of training and maintenance to cap a busy month. The department completed all annual truck maintenance (oil, filters, transfer case, pump, etc.) and attended two CSEPP events, practicing decontamination setup and preparing for the annual evaluation in September. The BFD certified the police department in CPR and First Aid.  

Tumble Shine Preschool visited Station 1, and the department preplanned 67 business. Firefighters also logged 277 hours of training in fire control, hazardous materials, loss control, and general rescue.

Overall, the department responded to 76 service calls during the month of August.

Service calls included:

Fires: 9

Rescue and emergency medical service: 22

Motor vehicle accident with injuries: 10

Vehicle accident without injuries: 9

Service calls: 14

False alarm or false call: 12

Assist police or other intergovernmental agency: 3

Hazardous condition (no fire): 6

No incident found on arrival: 2
