September 11, 2019– Wolf Creek NFH and the Friends of Wolf Creek NFH, Inc. will host the 8th Annual Wounded Warriors Fishing Event from 6 a.m. – 3 p.m. CDT. This event was created in an effort to promote outdoor recreational activities for wounded service members. Participants will begin with striped bass fishing with guides on Lake Cumberland. Following an honorary salute by the local chapter of the Disabled American Veterans and a complimentary lunch, participants may trout fish in Hatchery Creek. While all necessary equipment will be provided for striper fishing, participants are encouraged to bring their own trout fishing gear. Any veteran wounded during service is encouraged to participate in this day filled with fishing, fellowship, and fun. Pre-registration required. Space limited. September 14, 2019– Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery (NFH) will host 2nd Saturday Fly Fishing at Hatchery Creek with professional volunteer fly fisherman, Mark Lamberth. Mark has 50 years of experience fly-fishing in over 42 states with loads enthusiasm to share! Two sessions will be offered on the 2nd Saturday of each month: 10am – noon (flycasting techniques) and 2pm – 4pm CDT (flyfishing at Hatchery Creek). Meet in the Visitor Center and sign-in at least 15 minutes prior to session. Bring your own gear if possible; limited gear available. Pre-registration required. Space limited. September 24, 2019– Wolf Creek NFH and the Friends of Wolf Creek NFH, Inc. will host the 12th Annual Catch a Smile Senior Fishing Derby from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. CDT. The free event is open to anyone 62 years of age or older. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. (Pre-registration not available). Lunch will be provided. Participants will be entered in door prize drawing. Participants must bring their own fishing gear/bait. All Kentucky fishing regulations apply.
