Mabel was also preceded in death by her childhood beau and husband of sixty-three years, Dewey Turner. She is survived by their two sons, Dearl (Janet) Turner of Berea, Kentucky and Earl (Ellen) Turner of Georgetown, Kentucky.
Mabel loved and helped care for three generations of her grandchildren. She was simply called Granny by her three surviving granddaughters: Pamela Jo Hays, Melissa Lynn (David) Richardson, and Sherry Ann (Greg) France. Then, just when Mabel thought her rocking chair could take a break, she became Granny Mabel to her six surviving great grandchildren: Jordan Lane (McKenzie) Hays, Cheyenne Paige Amon, Dearl Hunter France, India Alese Hays, Olivia Brenn Hays, and Gavin Reid France. Her final title of Nanny Granny came with the birth of her great great grandchild, Railee Mabel Amon, or as Mabel would smile and call her…Little Wampus Cat. Mabel also welcomed five bonus grandchildren into her family: Aaron Richardson, Dawson Richardson, Mike Whitcomb, Mark Whitcomb, and Sheri Nash along with a host of honorary family members who cared for her at the Berea Health Care Center.
For eighty-nine years, Mabel was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt for her loving family. She made a home and kept it well for those she loved.
