BEREA POLICE REPORT 7/9/2019

ARRESTED

Shoplifting Arrest:  On 07/08/2019 officers were called to Walmart in reference to a shoplifter that had been detained by store employees. 

The subject was observed removing items from their packaging and concealing them on his person. 

Officers arrested 32 year old Brandon Steele of Somerset KY and charged him with Theft By Unlawful Taking Shoplifting. 

ARRESTED

Criminal Mischief Arrest:  On 07/07/2019 officers were called to a residence on Scaffold Cane Road in reference to a subject attempting to break out a window on the caller’s home. 

The subject ran into a wooded area but was located by officers a short time after they arrived. 

The subject was intoxicated and seemed to be confused about where he was. 

Officers arrested 30 year old Lucas McHone of Berea KY and charged him with the following:

Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place Resisting ArrestTerroristic Threatening 3rd Degree

ARRESTED

Burglary Arrest:  On 07/06/2019 officers were called to Dinsmore Street after a caller stated that someone had kicked his door in. 

The victim reported that his neighbor rang his doorbell and began accusing him of stealing.  He then forced open the victim’s door and entered the home. 

While officers were on scene the subject came out of the victim’s home and was placed under arrest. 

Officers charged 49 year old James Drake of Berea KY with Burglary 2nd Degree and Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree.  

ARRESTED

Drug Arrest:  On 07/05/2019 officers were called to Glades Village apartments in reference to someone asleep near a picnic table. 

As they were speaking to the subject they noticed a syringe in his pants pocket.  A glass vial with white residue and several cut straws were also located on his person. 

Officers arrested 18 year old Tayler Gibson of Berea KY and charged him with Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree and Drug Paraphernalia Possession. 

ARRESTED

Receiving Stolen Property Arrest:  On 07/04/2019 officers with the street crimes unit responded to a residence on Hays Fork Lane after getting a tip about the location of some stolen property. 

A trailer, lawnmower, and leaf blower were all located at the residence that had been reported stolen in Jackson County. 

Officers arrested 55 year old John Lawson of Richmond KY and charged him with Receiving Stolen Property $10,000 or more. 

ARRESTED

Burglary Arrest:  On 07/04/2019 officers were called to Jamestown Drive in reference to a subject who entered the caller’s home and then fled on foot. 

The subject asked for a glass of water after knocking on the door and entered the home uninvited.  He was located by responding officers at another home one street over from where the incident occurred. 

Officers arrested 51 year old Derek Couch of Mount Vernon KY and charged him with Burglary 2nd Degree, Public Intoxication, and Criminal Trespassing 1st Degree.

ARRESTED

Drug Arrest:  On 07/03/2019 officers were called to Circle K on Chestnut Street to check on a subject who had been sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot. 

When they made contact with the subject they observed a loaded syringe inside of the vehicle.  The syringe contained suspected heroin and more suspected heroin was located inside of the vehicle. 

Officers arrested 24 year old Danielle Thomas of Richmond KY and charged her with Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Heroin). 

ARRESTED

Drug Arrest:  On 07/03/2019 officers with the street crimes unit conducted a traffic stop on Bratcher Lane for a traffic violation.  A passenger in the vehicle was in possession of a black metal box that contained several items including suspected methamphetamine, syringes, marijuana, and a pipe. 

Officers arrested 42 year old Christina Baker of Berea KY and charged her with Possession on Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine), Drug Paraphernalia Possession, and Possession of Marijuana.    

ARRESTED

Drug Arrest:  On 07/03/2019 officers were called to Walmart in reference to a subject passed out in a vehicle.  They spoke to the subject and eventually located suspected methamphetamine and two syringes inside of the vehicle. 

Officers arrested 34 year old Jason Goodman of Lily KY and charged him with Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine) and Drug Paraphernalia Possession.

ARRESTED

Criminal Trespassing:  On 06/30/2019 officers arrested 44 year old Timothy Obrecht of Berea KY at Walmart for an outstanding arrest warrant. 

He had previously been banned from the property and was also charged with Criminal Trespassing 3rd Degree. 

ARRESTED

Drug Arrest:  On 06/28/2019 officers with the street crimes unit responded to a residence on Dinsmore Street to serve and outstanding arrest warrant. 

The subject was located, and he was observed pulling a syringe from his pants pocket and throwing it on the ground.  A small plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine was located in his shorts pocket. 

Officers arrested 37 year old William Bailey of Berea KY and charged him with Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine) and Drug Paraphernalia Possession. 

ARRESTED

Drug Arrest:  On 06/26/2019 officers with the street crimes unit responded to Walmart in reference to a subject passed out inside of a vehicle.  After speaking with the subject and identifying him, it was learned that he had 4 outstanding arrest warrants. 

A pill bottle containing diazepam, suboxone, and gabapentin tablets was found in the vehicle along with two drug pipes.  The subject was taken to St. Joseph Berea and he dropped something in a trash can as he was walking.  A small green plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine was located in the trashcan. 

Officers charged 45 year old Barry Roberts of Berea KY with the following:

Possession of Controlled Substance 2nd Degree Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine) Tampering with Physical Evidence
