Ruth Geneva Thomas
Ruth Geneva Gadd Thomas, 78, of Berea, died at her home Wednesday, April 3, 2019. Born June 18, 1940, daughter of the late John and Mary Jane Gadd Ramey.
She had been a resident of Berea most of her life. Ruth was a Dresser Industries retiree with 28 years of service to the company. She was a member of Dresser Quarter Century Club, Woman’s Industrial, and member of the Holiness Faith. She loved animals, especially her cats and dog.
Survivors include 3 children, Angela Carter (Kevin Crane), Elizabeth Lake (Pat), William Thomas (Hazel); 5 siblings, Opal Long, Lorene Damrell, Bonnie Adams, Jerry Ramey, Wanda Combs; 9 grandchildren, Christopher, Holly, Zachary, Taylor, Tiffany, Brooklyn, Johnathon, Ricky, Kiser; 6 great grandchildren, Willa, Hayden, Hunter, Dalton, Kiara, Kolton.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 1 brother, William Gadd.
In accordance with her wishes Ruth was cremated. Memorial Service 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Reppert Funeral Home and Cremation Service with Bro. Mark Adams officiating. Acceptance of friends by the family 10:00 AM until service time.
Maude Wylie Neeley, 94, died Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the Berea Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born January 8, 1925 in Paint Lick, wife to the late Ralph Neeley, the daughter of the late George and Laura Creech Wylie, a Berea area resident for most of her life and she attended Silver Creek Baptist Church.
Maude had the most demanding job on earth, a homemaker. A wife, loving mother, grandmother, and always a family first woman, she routinely cared not only for her own but for other people’s children.
Maude is survived by children; Phyllis Marcum (Glen), Doug Neeley, Cathy Brockman (James); siblings Hazel Sparks, Shirley Cheeks, Frances Ambrozio and Tom Wylie; six grandchildren, Jack, Todd, Clay, Shawn, Chris, Chandra; nine great-grandchildren, Bryce, Page, Logan, Brianna, Tawny, Joseph, Ambria, Tristin, Alexis.
Maude is predeceased by her husband Ralph, her parents and siblings; Henry Wylie, Sam Wylie, Jim Wylie, Ruby Harold, Ruth Edester and Nannie Bonadio.
Funeral Service is at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Reppert Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Bro. Wayne Miller officiating with burial to follow at The Berea Cemetery.
Dianna Gail Pigg
Dianna Gail Pigg, age 63, wife of Jerry Bishop died on March 31st, 2019 at her home in Lebanon, Indiana. She was born in Jonesville, Virginia on May 20th, 1955 daughter of the late Eugene and Pattie Sue Ayers Fee.
She enjoyed canoeing, fishing, reading, feeding her chickens and watering flowers, but most of all she was devoted to her family and loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Ann Pigg.
Other than her husband she is survived by her children, Shanna (Jonathon Weathers) Pigg of Jamestown, IN, Gary “Josh” (Wendy Pickett) Pigg of Lebanon, IN, four grandchildren, Haley Smith, Dalton Pickett, Jaiden Weathers, and Kingston Weathers. Two brothers, Tony (Judy) Fee of Berea, KY, Danny (Linda) Fee of Mentor, OH, four sisters, Renee Fee of Berea, KY, Darlene (Doug) Wyant of Willoughby, OH, Mitzi (Vernon) Durbin of Berea, KY, and Linda (Earl) Hurst of Tyner, KY. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, April 6th, 2019 at the Silver Creek Cemetery. Davis & Powell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Patricia Gayle Tyra
Patricia Gayle Tyra, age 64 of Waco, passed away at Baptist Health in Richmond on Friday, April 5, 2019. Patricia was born in Lexington to the late Robert and Nellie Atwell Lair.
She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one infant son, Wesley Tyra.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Tyra; five children, Melissa (John) Gilliam, Shawn Tyra, Lyndsay Tyra, Cecily (Jonathon) Hall, and DeEdra (Jason) Lindon; three siblings, Mary (Raymond) Hovator, Paul (Pat) Lair, and Ronnie (Sharon) Stephens; eight grandchildren, Johnathan and Julianna Gilliam, Bella and Claira Hall, Sierra (Steven) Faulkner, Dakota Brown, Jayla and Ryder Lindon; and one great grandchild, Gavin; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1pm, Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Rosedale Community Church in Campton with Rev. Vaughn Rasor officiating. Burial will follow in the Tyra Family Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6-8pm at Lakes Funeral Home in Berea.
Hazel Lee Hopper
Hazel Lee Lanham Hopper, age 94, of Berea, passed away at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Kentucky. Born to the late Lee Willard and Violet Calder Lanham in Corbin, Kentucky.
Hazel was married to Troy Hopper in 1940 and had two children, Gary Wayne Hopper, and Judy Sue (Hopper)(Morrison) Cook. Two grandchildren, Pamela Morrison McWilliams, and Andrew Christopher Morrison, and one great-grandson, Slade Christopher Morrison, a brother, Earl Disney, and many nieces and nephews.
Hazel loved her family dearly, and they loved her. She will be missed and always remembered fondly.
Private services for the family will be held at Lakes Funeral Home Berea.
Olga Mae Andrew
Olga Mae Andrew was born February 14, 1940 and passed away April 2, 2019.
Visitation will be Friday, April 5th, 2019 11:00am – 2:00pm at Lakes Funeral Home in Berea. Funeral service will take place after the visitation at 2:00pm at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Leonard Wilder. Interment will follow at Andrew Cemetery in Tyner, Kentucky.
Gregory Wayne Childers
Gregory Wayne Childers, 39, of Richmond, passed away Monday, April 1, 2019, after arrival at Baptist Health – Richmond. Born, August 1, 1979, in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of Jack Childers, Sr. and the late Janet Kay Moore Childers.
Gregory was the husband of Teresa Lee Anne McKinney Childers. He was an auto technician and of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his father and wife, Gregory is survived by three daughters, Morgan and Madison Childers, both of Berea, and Emily Kay Childers of Richmond; three brothers Jack Childers, Jr., Michael Childers (Kimberly) and Gary Childers (Pepsi); and one step-sister, Chastity Sparks of Lexington and his step mother Bonnie Childers.
Funeral service for Gregory will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, April 5, 2019, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with Rev. John Tussey officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time on Friday.
Bobbie Neal Chapple
Bobbie Neal Chapple, 99, of Richmond, was received into his Heavenly home on Sunday, March 31, 2019, surrounded by loving family at his home. Born January 22, 1920, in Harlan County, Kentucky, he was the son of Louis and Edna Mae Hill Chapple, both of whom preceded him in death.
Bobbie was the husband of the late Edna Leigh Tipton Chapple. He was a retired Ammunition Inspector for the Bluegrass Army Depot, serving for 32 years, and a US Army veteran of WWII. Bobbie was a member of White Hall Baptist Church where he was the beloved “# 1 Member Daddy”.
Survivors include his son, Bobby Neal Chapple, Jr. of Richmond; four daughters, Mafery Anglin of Berea, Velma Van Winkle of Jackson County, Viola Alexander Ginter (Raymond) of Richmond, Annie Allen (Duane) of Hazard; 13 grandchildren, Melvin Murphy, Douglas Murphy, Brenda Alexander, Sharon Collins, Dennis Alexander, Scott Alexander, Teresa Gabbard, Trina Proffitt, Joshua Allen, Andrew Allen, Jeremiah Allen, Brandon Chapple, and Robert Chapple; 22 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, three nieces, and a host of friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia Isaacs, two brothers, Lester Lowe and Tony Chapple.
Funeral service for Bobbie Chapple will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Beard, Bro. Stanley Van Winkle, Bro. Duane Allen and Bro. Charlie Wilson officiating. Visitation will be after 6:00 PM Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at the funeral home.
His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Nancy Lee Sullivan
Nancy Lee Criter Sullivan, 73, of Richmond, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
A native of Chicago, Illinois, she was born May 7, 1945, to the late Permin Joseph Criter and the late Verna Williams Bowe Lynxweiler.
Nancy was a homemaker and was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include her children, David Joseph Worth, Shannon Lyn Sullivan (Chris Hudson) of Richmond, and Donald Francis Sullivan of Richmond; one brother Kenneth Franklin Criter Joann Criter) of Paso Robles, California; five grandchildren, Andrew David Worth, Hannah Eugena Sullivan, Rebecca Lynn Tackett, Sarah Leigh Tackett and Tylen Merle Hall, all of Richmond. She leaves one niece, Kori Jessel of Deltona, Florida.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, April 4, 2019, with Father Tom Farrell officiating. Interment will be on Friday, April 5, 2019 in the Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, in Hillside, Illinois. Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Joseph Paul Sydow
Joseph Paul Sydow, 39, of Richmond, passed away on Thursday evening, April 4, 2019 at the UK Hospital in Lexington. Joe was born in Bay City Texas on January 7, 1980 and was a 1998 graduate of the Comanche High School in Comanche Texas.
Joe was an inspiring entrepreneur and in 2014 he opened Rich City Vapors. Most of all Joe loved his family and spending time with them was his favorite thing to do.
Survivors include: his wife of 12 years, Brooke Lamb Sydow; his children, Skylar Sydow, Jaxon Sydow and Bentley Sydow; his parents, Ricky and Dorinda Sydow Hentz; two brothers, Stephen Sydow (Christy) and Joshua Hentz (Latisha); two sisters, Charity Lyons (Tyler) and MaKayla Hentz; his maternal grandparents, Norris and Marilyn Sydow; his father and mother-in-law, John and Lisa Lamb; his brother and sisters-in-laws, Jami Goldey (Jason) and Joshua Adam Lamb (Malori); his special mini Golden-Doodle which was his constant companion, Yoda; and a host of other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Verna Hentz.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond. Visitation will be after 4 PM Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Jackie Gayle Miller
Jackie Gayle Miller, 61 of Paint Lick, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the Markey Cancer Center. Mr. Miller was born in Madison County on December 17, 1957, the son of Blanche Rison Miller and the late Floyd Miller.
He grew up in Pryse, KY and was employed by CSX Railroad for 17 years. He later went on to work in excavation for another 17 years. He was an avid Nascar and John Deere fan. His children and grandchildren were the joys of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Alesia Dennis Miller; his mother, Blanche Miller of Irvine; two sons Chad Miller (Jennifer) of Richmond; Nick Miller (Bobbi Jo) of Berea, and one daughter; Amy Rapier (Ralph), of Paint Lick, two brothers; Earl Miller (Carolyn) of Lancaster and Tony Miller (Lisa) of Irvine; one sister, Lou Ann Hall (Darrell) of Irvine; mother and father in law, Ruby and Earl Dennis of Richmond; nine grandchildren; Wesley Marcum, Wyatt Marcum, Walker Marcum, Austin Miller, Elizabeth Miller, Landon Miller, Zachary Miller, Warren Rapier, and Peyton Miller; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jacob Wilder Rapier.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Huffman and Bro. Clarence Rison officiating. Burial will follow in Manse Cemetery in Paint Lick, KY. Visitation will be 4-8PM Monday, April 8, 2019 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Greg Kirby, Josh Miller, Chris Miller, Dustin Miller, Wesley Marcum, and Dennis Lakes. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
Shirley Ann Sharpe
Shirley Ann Davis Sharpe, 67, of Berea, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019. Shirley, the daughter of the late Dillard D. Davis and Katherine Overby Davis, was born in Madison County on June 23, 1951.
She was an avid owl collector and enjoyed playing video games. She loved music, especially the music of the 60’s, and she was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: her son: Tink Simpson and wife April of Harrodsburg; two daughters: Rosanna Simpson of Middletown, OH and Julia Simpson, and her fiancé Wesley McKinney of Hazel Green; Colton Daniel, a great grandson whom she was raising; her brother: Stanley Davis; three sisters: Carolyn Bowman and husband Darrell, Wanda Hensley and husband Raymond and Kathy Browning; 12 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and one sister-in-law: Kay Davis.
Shirley was also preceded in death by her husband Larry Sharpe; her daughter, Candy Michelle Simpson and her brother, Gene Davis.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday, April 8, 2019 at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 10:00 AM Monday at the funeral home.

Christopher Allen Agee
Christopher Allen Agee, 31, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2019. He was born in Madison County on April 6, 1987 to Vincent Ray Agee and Jeanette Potter Agee.
Chris was a self employed roofer and will be remembered as a good hearted person.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by: his wife, Whitney Agee; his daughter, Alxis Faye Agee; one sister, Jessica Agee; his grandmother Emma Agee; as well as a host of other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clearise Rose and Richard Potter and his paternal grandfather, Marvin Agee.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 4 PM Sunday, April 7, 2019, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond, with Pastor Rickey Horn officiating. Visitation will after 2 PM Sunday, at the funeral home. Burial will be conducted on Monday at the Madison County Memorial Gardens.
Dorthie Isaacs Rose, 72, of Richmond, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at her home. Mrs. Rose, the daughter of the late Marcus Isaacs and Florence Betty Lakes Isaacs, was born in Madison County on February 20, 1947.
She was a member of Kirksville Baptist Church. She loved caring for animals, tending her garden and cooking for family and friends. She enjoyed the outdoors, trees and flowers and always knew when to plant and was a literal walking almanac. Going to yard sales was also a favorite pass time.
On June 10, 1966, Mrs. Rose united in marriage to Teddy M. Rose and were married for 52 years.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: one brother: Donnie Gene Isaacs; one sister: Grace Dean Creech and husband Earl; one brother-in-law: Paul Rose; two sisters-in-law: Margie Grant and Kathleen Howard and many loving nieces and nephews.
Dorthie was also preceded in death by three brothers: Julion Isaacs, Herschel Isaacs and Flemon “Doc” Isaacs and her sister Mavis Bentley.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, April 5, 2019 at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Hisle officiating. Burial will follow in the Manse Cemetery in Paint Lick. Visitation will be after 11:00 AM Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Cecil Grant, Jr., Danny Grant, Chan Combs, Doug Isaacs, Hank Isaacs and David Thomas.
Terry Wayne Sutton
Terry Wayne Sutton, 56, of Stanford, KY passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. Born on October 18, 1962 in Somerset, KY to the late Leon Curtis Sutton and the late Cloma Ethel New Sutton.
Survivors include one son, Curtis Sutton (Elizabeth) of Lexington, KY; one grandson, Matthew Sutton; one brother, Jack Sutton (Marcia) of Virginia; three sisters, Louise Unthank of Richmond, KY, Brenda Estes of Stanford, KY and Beverly Madden (Gary) of Stanford, KY; his companion, Liz Stephens and Curtis’s step-mother, Regina Gooch.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brother-in-laws, Gary Estes, Bob Unthank, Wayne Sharp and a step-father Hubert Pence.
A one day service has been scheduled for Friday, April 5, 2019 with Dan Grigson officiating the service. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY. A funeral will then follow starting at 2 p.m. at the Funeral Home in Stanford, KY.
The family has requested to not send flowers for the service of Terry Wayne Sutton.
Maynard Cole Jr.
Maynard Cole Jr., age 78, of Eighth Street in Ravenna, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at the Irvine Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a long illness. He was born April 9, 1940 in Madison County and was the son of the late Maynard and Rhoda Clouse Cole.
He was a retired truck driver with World Wide Trucking and a member of the Salem Christian Church. He was a United States Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Cockrell Cole.
He is survived by: 1 Daughter: Connie (Rick) Arthur – Ravenna 1 Son: Clinton (Sherri) Cole – Irvine 1 Sister: Rosalee Lawson – Richmond 1 Brother: Tom Cole – Richmond 4 Grandchildren: Melissa, Jennifer Tabitha and Jared 10 Great Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by 1 sister, Edith Travis and 3 brothers; Ed, Alfred and Bud Cole.

Terry Renee Sandlin
Terry Renee Sandlin was born March 9, 1965 in Madison County and departed this life Sunday, March 31, 2019 at her residence, being 54 years of age. She was the daughter of Patsy Sandlin of Tyner and of the late Roger Sandlin.
In addition to her mother, Terry is also survived by her daughter, Laura Mason of Laurel County and by three brothers, Keith Sandlin of McKee, Marty Sandlin of Elizabethtown and Brian Sandlin of Berea. Terry was blessed with four grandchildren, Makayla Mason, Hallie Hensley, Dalaney Hensley and Brady Mason.
Graveside service 2:30PM Thursday, April 4, 2019 at New Zion Cemetery with Bro. Brian Gabbard officiating. Lakes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
