Phyllis Ann Seals
Phyllis Ann Seals, age 69, of Berea, Kentucky, passed away March 29, 2019 at Hospice Compassionate Care in Richmond. A Berea native, she was born to the late George and Lizzy Casteel.
Phyllis worked in food services for Berea Community Schools, and attended Middletown Baptist Church. After retirement she found much enjoyment in gardening, and homemaking.
She is survived by her husband, William (Bill) H. Seals, son, Russel Seals, grandchildren Taylor, and Annaleis Seals, siblings, Michael (Debbie) Casteel, and Marsha Casteel.
Funeral Services will be held at Lakes Funeral Home Berea, Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at 2 PM. Burial will follow in the Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 5 – 8 PM.
Bobby Dale Johnson
Bobby Dale Johnson age 44, passed away suddenly March 29, 2019 at his home. Bobby had been employed at Hitachi in Berea.
Bobby was preceded in death by his wife Mistie Sowder Johnson in 2018, and his grandfathers: Clayton Barger and Clem Johnson.
Bobby is survived by his parents Dale Clem and Sylvia Barger Johnson, his daughters Katelyn and Faith Johnson, and his brothers Jason (Sonya Miller) Johnson, and Richard Johnson, several nieces and nephews and good friends.
Funeral services will be Tuesday April 2, 2019 at Lakes Funeral Home Berea at 1 pm, with burial in the Robinson Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6-9 pm at the Funeral Home.
John Reed age 61, husband of Tammy Gaddis Reed, died Thursday March 28, 2019 at Baptist Health in Richmond, Kentucky.
John Had worked for the US Postal Service. He enjoyed spending his time outdoors, hunting, fishing, wood-crafting, and would never turn down a good game of Texas hold’em. John was an excellent drummer and musician. Music was a big part of who John was, you could always catch him singing a tune. He touched us all with his witty sense of humor and compassionate heart.
John was preceded in death by his father Floyd B. Reed and step father David Reed, and his brother Kenton Reed and grandson Cody D. Turpin.
John is survived by his wife Tammy Gaddis Reed, his mother Lucille Conner Reed, his children: John Dudley Reed, Jennifer Gail Nalley, Rebecca Turpin, Tabitha Roberts, Jamie Martin, Sierra Roberts, Gerald Reed, and Gregory Bailey, his brothers; Steve Reed, James (Patsy) Reed, and sisters Linda (Tim) Fielder, Lisa (Jim) Abney, Leah (Mel) Rose, and 13 beautiful grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 am Monday, April 1, 2019 at Lakes Funeral Home Berea, burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6-9 pm at the Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Reed, Patrick Bryant, Jason McGuire, Justin Edens, Hunter Durham, David Gaddis, Mel Rose, and Jim Abney.
Mary Ann Foster
Mary Ann Foster born July 12,1932 in South Bend, Indiana Passed away Monday March 25, 2019 in Berea, KY.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Darlene Kisor, husband, Cilfford Foster, daughter, Deborah Vanhook, two sisters, Melva Swisher and Jean Eisele.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Marsha) Nafrady of Granger, IN., Kimberly (Chuck) Smith of Bradenton, FL.., Lisa (Jim) Scully of Berea, KY., sister, Geneva Sweet of South Bend, IN., step son, Michael (Rhonda) Foster of Shelton WA., four grandsons, Todd Baker of Somerset, KY., Brandon Nafrady of Granger, IN., John Patrick and Clifton Scully both of Berea, KY., three step grandsons, Todd (Amy) Hurley of Granger, IN., Michael and Doyle Foster both of Shelton, WA., great grandchildren, Tylar Baker of Somerset, KY., Zoe, Sophia, and Jake Hurley of Granger, IN., and Randy Foster of Shelton, WA.
Her decision is to donate her body to University of Kentucky College of Medicine and have no visitation or services.

Michael George Byrne
Michael George Byrne, 63 of Berea, died Sunday, March 24, 2019 in Blue Ash Ohio after an illness. Son of Theodore Francis and Wanda George Ann DeRosa Byrne.
Michael was a janitor at the Patty A. Clay Hospital for many years and later for the City of Berea. Michael also attended the Great Commission Church in Berea where he played the guitar for worship services.
He is survived by his loving care givers, James and Valerie Rose Pate. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Toni Byrne Smith. Reppert Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
A Remembrance Gathering is scheduled for 1:30 PM Sunday, March 31, 2019 at his gravesite in the Berea Cemetery.

James Dexter Curry, 77, died on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 in Lexington, Kentucky at Baptist Health.

Nancy Carolyn Revel
Nancy Carolyn Lovett Revel, 78, of Richmond, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2019, at home. She was born December 9, 1940 in Richmond, Kentucky to Melvin Lee and Della Christopher Sanders, both of whom preceded her in death.
Nancy was a retired cook serving for 37 years at Eastern Kentucky University, and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Jamie Wilburn (Johnny) and Brenda Marshall (John), both of Richmond; one son, James Lovett, Jr. (Darlene Farthing) of Richmond; one sister, Kathleen Reynolds, and her grandchildren Tanya Marshall, Stephanie Harrison, Jonathon Wilburn, Jody Caudill, Ashley Pryor, Laureen Lovett, and James Lovett, III; as well as four great grandchildren. She also leaves special niece and caregiver during many trying times, Bonnie Sanders Hale and several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by five brothers, Wallace, Hubert, Chuck, Wayne and Marlin Sanders.
Funeral service for Nancy will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, April 1, 2019 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with Vivian Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
Rozellen Griggs, 99, of Fort Thomas, KY and Viera, FL went to be with the Lord on March 24, 2019. She was born in Union City, Madison County, Kentucky on July 21, 1919 to the late Samuel Ogg Griggs and Nannie Minor Griggs.
Rozellen was a loving and cherished sister, aunt, and friend. She was preceded in death by two brothers Daniel and Samuel Griggs. She is survived by her sister Anna Frances Black and three nieces Diane Sallee (Sam) of Richmond, Serena Shelton (Jerry) of Frankfort, Barbara Black of Viera, FL, four great nieces and numerous great great nieces and nephews.
Rozellen was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Thomas for over 60 years. She was a deacon and faithful supporter of FBC, especially her ladies Sunday School Class. Rozellen graduated from Eastern Kentucky University 1943 with a bachelor’s degree in education. She earned her Master’s degree from the University of Kentucky and achieved her Rank I certification. As a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Teacher’s Society she served as state board member and as international secretary. She was also a past president of the Northern Kentucky EKU Alumni Association. Rozellen was named to the EKU Hall of Distinguished Alumni. When she retired from teaching fifth grade at Samuel Woodfill Elementary in Fort Thomas she taught education courses for Northern Kentucky University. Rozellen served as an officer in both the Ft Thomas chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the Fort Thomas Woman’s Club. In 2006 she began spending the winter months in Viera FL and lived there year round after 2012 with her sister and niece. In Florida she faithfully attended the Church at Viera and dearly loved the ladies she came to know through the Wednesday morning Christian book studies. Rozellen was very proud of her many former students especially those Woodfill fifth graders. She will remain that constant positive influence in the hearts of her family, friends and students.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church Fort Thomas at 10:30 on Thursday March 28. Visitation will be conducted from 11:00 to 12:00 on Friday March 29 at Oldham, Roberts, and Powell Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Church at Viera, 9005 North Wickham Road, Viera FL 32940, the First Baptist Church Ft Thomas KY or the American Heart Association.
Harold W. Thomas
Harold W. Thomas, 84, passed away Monday evening, March 25, 2019 at The University of Kentucky Bluegrass Hospice Center in Lexington. He was born on November 28, 1934 in Madison County, the son of the late Aaron Sr. and Georgia Hurt Thomas.
Mr. Thomas was a businessman and was the owner of Richmond Scrap Iron and Metal in Richmond. When he wasn’t working, he loved fishing, gardening and enjoyed going to Keeneland Race Course in Lexington for the horse races.
Survivors include his three children: Dwayne Thomas, Elaine Davis (Tommy) and Elroy Thomas (Donna); his dear friend and companion: Dorothy; two brothers: Billy Thomas (Betsy), Aaron Thomas Jr. (Judy); one sister: Betty Lou Turpin; four grandchildren: Branden Davis (Brittany), Joshua Davis (Olivia), Jessica Grant (Matt) and Tressa Thomas; four great-grandchildren: Hunter Grant, Tate Grant, Davis Grant and Dovey Davis as well as several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. In addition he leaves behind his two canine companions: Brewster and Tootie
He was preceded in death by five brothers: David, Paul, J.C. , Cecil and Charles Thomas as well as his parents.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Davis officiating. Burial will follow at the Flatwoods Cemetery at Waco, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Friday at the funeral home.

Linda Lee Renfro
Linda Lee Short Renfro, 71, of Richmond, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at her home. She was born in Madison County on December 6, 1947 to the late Hobert Short and Dorothy Clark Short.
Linda was a former employee of National Metal & Processing Company. She loved her family and pets, but most importantly she was a Christian.
Survivors include: 3 sons, James Renfro, Kenneth Renfro (Ruth), and Wayne Renfro (Mary); 2 daughters, Madona Renfro-Wimmer (Clyde) and Daronda Agee (Keith); one step-daughter, Jennifer Hoogenboom; 2 brothers, Robert Short and Shelby Short; 1 sister, Sue Ann Parker (Raoul); 10 grandchildren, Jessica Anglin (Trinity), Veronica Renfro, Vernon Renfro, Tiffany Renfro, Katelyn Renfro, Arionna Renfro, Amaya Renfro, Arielle Renfro, Brittanee Agee and Keith Agee, Jr.; 4 step-grandchildren, Derek Agee (Lauren), Jessica Agee, Austin Agee and Seth Hoogenboom; 6 great-grandchildren, Jaylee Roberts Cheyenne Anglin, Laney Anglin, Remi Anglin, Alexis McIntosh and Benton Dunn; as well as a host of other extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Renfro and a grandson, James Donavon Renfro.
Services will be conducted at 1:30 PM Friday, March 29, 2019, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main Street, Richmond, with Pastor Owen Moody officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 PM Thursday, at the funeral home.

Alma Jean Smith
Alma Jean Falin Smith, age 75, aka “Amazing Alma”, widow of the late Shirley Smith of Mt. Vernon, KY, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, KY. She was born a daughter of the late Orbin Falin and the late Pearl Chesnut Falin, on April 17, 1943, in Rockcastle County.
She had been a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was of the Baptist faith and above all things, she loved Jesus, singing and giving him praise.
Those left to celebrate her life are her children: Mark Smith and Pam, Melvin Smith, and Amy Barnes and Michael all of Mt. Vernon, KY, and Rodney Smith and Judy of Brodhead, KY; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; four sisters: Evelyn Miller and Casper of Mt. Vernon, KY, Linda Stewart and Carl of Pine Hill, KY, Inas Leger and Charles of Berea, KY, and Martina Leger and Benny of Brodhead, KY; one brother: Tommy Falin of Richmond, KY; as well a host of many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Shirley Smith; two sons: William Timothy Smith, and Marvin Smith; one daughter: Enita Cheryl Smith Bradley; two grandsons: Eric Anthony Smith and Christopher Andrew Mink; one sister: Irene Stewart; two brothers: Ellis Falin and Dallas Falin; one infant brother, and one infant sister.
Services for Mrs. Smith will be held on Monday, April 1st, 2019, at the Marvin E. Owens home for Funerals beginning with the visitation from 11am – 12pm, followed by the funeral at 12pm, with Bro. Chad Burdette officiating. Burial will follow in the Crest Haven Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Ryan Bradley, T.J. Bradley, B.B. Bradley, Christian Mink, Keith Smith, and Mark Smith. Honorary casket bearers will be Austin Napier and Will Smith.
Carolyn Denise Taylor
Carolyn Denise Riddell-Taylor, age 27, of Sub Station Road in Irvine passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019. She was born January 7, 1992 in Montgomery County and was the daughter of Samuel David Riddell and Donna Denise Horn Roberts.
She was an employee of Toyota Manufacturing and attended the Pentecostal Fellowship Church. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
