The ball fields at Berea City Park were severely impacted by heavy rains in recent weeks, but Parks & Rec crews were able to prep the fields for the start of the season, and plans are in the works to begin the rejuvenation of selected fields beginning this fall.
At Tuesday’s meeting of the Berea City Council, City Administrator Randy Stone told officials playing fields have to be fully restored about every 10 years at a cost of about $100,000 per field. He added fields three and four are slated to be refurbished next fall, and there will be a budget request for that work in the upcoming 2019-2020 budget proposal.
The process will begin when Berea Youth League concludes its season this coming autumn. A contractor will be hired for the project, Stone said.
