The City of Berea and Berea College are continuing to work together on the alignment of the Brushy Fork Creek portion of the Boone Trace Trail.
On Tuesday night, Berea City Administrator Randy Stone reported the current goal is to build the trail to ensure it is sustainable and consistently accessible, which officials say is potentially challenging given the impact of heavy rains. “The creek itself is a large part of the experience of being on this section of our trail system,” Stone said. Stone went on to say there will be a budget recommendation to fund the trail in the 2019-2020 budget. In the meantime, college and city officials are trying to determine just how close to the creek the trail should go.
The current plan is for the Brushy Fork section of the trail to link Scaffold Cane Road to Boone Street.
