Charlene Rudder Pullins, age 84, wife of the late Jim Pullins entered eternal life Saturday December 29, 2018 at St Joseph hospital in Lexington. Mrs. Pullins was born June 19, 1934 in Lewis County, Ky., to the late Newell and Wanda Ginn Rudder.
Mrs. Pullins was a retired teacher of 34 years, with 25yrs in 5th grade social studies at Berea Community Elementary School. She was a member of the First Christian Church where she served as deacon and was a former chairman of the board. She was also a board member of Habitat for Humanity serving on many committees.
Mrs. Pullins is survived by one son, James C. (Anita) Pullins II of Lancaster Ohio, one daughter, Leanne Pullins (Donnie)Head of Richmond Ky., two grandchildren Andrew (Angel Spurlock, fiancé) Pullins, Tyler Clark, one nephew, Alan (Randi) Pullins, two nieces, Debbie (Mil) Hounshell, Lynne (Joe) Zieverink, brother-in-law, Eddie (Hosea Lee) Pullins, and two “later embraced” children, Ronnie Brown, and Patty Howser.
Visitation will be held Tuesday January 1, 2019 from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM at the Davis & Powell Funeral Home and January 2, 2019 from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at the First Christian Church in Berea. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at the First Christian Church with Rev. Glenn Birkett and Rev. Mark Caldwell-Reiss officiating. Entombment will follow in the Berea Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Doug Hazelwood, Tyler Clark, Andrew Pullins, Ronnie Brown, Bruce Fraley, and Alan Pullins.
Honorary pallbearers are Deana Hazelwood, Linda Wagers, and Patty Howser.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to The Beth Fraley Memorial Scholarship Fund, Hope’s Wings, and Habitat for Humanity.
