Michelle Miller, co-host of “CBS This Morning: Saturday” and Vidya Singh, the CBS program’s producer, recently came to campus to feature Berea in a story about the College’s no-tuition policy and how Berea makes a high-quality education accessible to students who can least afford it. By contrast tuition costs and student debt is dramatically rising at colleges nationwide.
The CBS segment will focus on Dave Bell ‘19, a senior computer science major from Morgantown, West Virginia. Miller interviewed Dave and followed him to his classes, work assignment and athletic practice to capture what a typical “day in the life” is like for a Berea College student. Like most of Berea’s students, Dave is a first-generation, full-need student who excels academically and in the Labor Program.
Several other students also were interviewed, as was President Lyle Roelofs and Admissions Director Luke Hodson ‘02. The story is scheduled for broadcast this Saturday morning, Jan. 19, 2019. Most viewers in the Eastern Time Zone can see the broadcast during the 7 a.m. hour (at approximately 7:44). In the Lexington, Kentucky (and Berea) viewing area, the segment will be broadcast during the 8 a.m. hour (at approximately 8:44). Check your local CBS listings for broadcast time in your area.
