Stephen Bruce Newman, age 62, of Barker Lane West in Berea, passed away Wednesday morning at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. Stephen was born in Madison County to the late David Grant and Ruby Lee Newman.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and retiree of Sherwin Williams. He belonged to the American Legion and was a Kentucky Colonel.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Linda Bookout, Phyllis Tripp and Donna VanWinkle.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Newman; two daughters, Renee Newman Tucker and her husband David, Stephanie Newman Smith and her husband Adam; his siblings, David Newman, Delbert (Lisa) Newman, Ronnie Newman, Jerry (Gina) Newman, Vivian King, Norma (Ralph) Jackson, and Terri (Wayne) Anglin; five grandchildren, Kennedy Reynolds, Logan Tucker, Austin Smith, Cadence Reynolds, and Kaylie Tucker; and his constant companion, his dog B.J.
Funeral services will be 1pm, Friday, December 7, 2018 at Lakes Funeral Home Berea. Burial with military honors will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 10am-1pm at the funeral home.
Isabella Kirstan Jolene Johnson passed away December 5, 2018 at St. Joseph East Hospital in Lexington. Isabella was born December 3, 2018 to Tristan and Abbygail Stevens Johnson.
She is also survived by her maternal grandparents, Sherri Spires Stevens and Leonard Stevens; paternal grandparents, Doug and Mary Johnson; great grandmother, Betty Spires, and several special aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by great grandparents, Herman Spires, Josie Johnson, and Boyd Caldwell; an uncle, Jefferson Stevens, and great uncle David Spires.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm, Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Lakes Funeral Home Berea with Rev. Sidney Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in the Merritt Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm Saturday at the funeral home.
Lee Elmer Eads
Lee Elmer Eads, 89, of Berea died Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Baptist Health Richmond. He was a Pineville Native (Bell County) born July 24, 1929, son of the late William Harvey and Gracie Gross Eads.
He was a retired farmer and property owner in Indiana, and had been a resident of Berea since his retirement in 1987. Lee was a national known coon hound breeder and trophy winner, life member of the Black & Tan Coon Hound Association, avid U.K. Sports fan and member of the Big Blue Nation. He was a member of the Holiness Faith and long-time member of Crestview Holy Sanctuary Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Billie Hensley Eads; 5 siblings, Harold Eads, Charlene Parrett, Marilyn Akers, Earl Ray Eads, Mary Saylor; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and church family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 7 siblings, LouAnna, Lorene, David, George, Marsillus, Duell, and Marie.
Funeral 1:00 PM, Friday, December 7, 2018 at Crestview Holy Sanctuary Church with Bro. Achee Eads and Bro. Richard Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Berea Cemetery. Visitation 11:00 AM until service time on Friday at the church. Reppert Funeral Home and Cremation Service entrusted with arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Tim Helgeson, Nate Eads, Jeff Mounts, Frank Napier, Darrell Eads, Freddy Campbell.
Ralph Ramsey, 75, of Berea died suddenly Monday, December 3, 2018 at Baptist Health Berea. He was a Macedonia area native (Rockcastle County) born March 7, 1943, son of the late Burl and Marie Childress Ramsey.
He was a retired Dresser Industries employee with 39 years of service. He was a resident of Rockcastle and Madison Counties all his life, a member of the Dresser Quarter Century Club, loved old cars and Bluegrass Music.
Survivors include one brother, Gary Ramsey. He was preceded in death by his special friend, Beatrice Witt and considered her family as his adopted family.
Private burial will be at Pennington Cemetery in Rockcastle County. Reppert Funeral Home and Cremation Service entrusted with arrangements.
Luwana Rae Cobb King, 86, of Richmond, passed away on Thursday, December 06, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Moberly, Ky. on Tuesday, July 12, 1932, the daughter of the late Lewis and Anna Rae Evans Cobb.
Following her graduation from high school, she went to the University of Cincinnati and graduated from the College Conservatory of Music. She was an accomplished organist and served as organist for the Spring Hill Church of Christ, of which she was a member, for over 20 years. She was a retired Trust Officer from the Chase Bank in Middletown, Ohio.
Survivors include her husband of 12 years, William C. Bill King; four step-children, Connie Duncan (Mark), Gary Wayne King, Craig King (Chris) and David King (Heidi); one cousin, Meredith Butch Tipton (Carol); ten grandchildren, Scott King (Stephanie), Billy King (Allison), Leslie McCammish, Jennifer Duty (Bryan), Patrick Duncan (Sarah), Laina King, Zachary King, Logan King, Tressa Root, and Amelia Root; ten great-grandchildren, Taylor King, Colton Taylor, Caiden Taylor, Kinslee King, Brody McCammish, Bella McCammish, Wyatt Duty, Hunter Duty, Shaun Duncan, and Tyler Duncan.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 4 PM Sunday, December 9, 2018, at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Fort & Rev. Robert Stacy officiating. Private burial will be in Madison Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 2 PM Sunday at the Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Scott King, Billy King, Bryan Duty, Laina King, Zachary King and Logan King.

Billy Keith Eden
Billy Keith “Bill” Eden, 87, of West Columbia, SC went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 8, 2018. He was born in Berea, KY, the son of the late Jesse Arthur Eden and the late Gladys Norvelle Eden.
Bill was a dedicated husband and father, survived by his wife of 53 years, Lucy Wise Eden; children, Cindy (Laird) Thompson, Randy (Sharon) Eden, Melody (Mike) Collins and Billie Kay (Jeff) Morris; grandchildren, Jacob and Nicholas Thompson, Evan Eden, Grant and Keith Gouveia, Jonathan Eden, Mic Collins, Jesse, Cole, Faith and Sam Morris, and 9 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Delores Eden Kucera.
Bill was an Air Force veteran and a member of American Legion Post 90. He was also a proud member of Fort Motte Hunt Club and Po Boys Hunt Club. Bill was retired from Federal Land Bank and a member of Platt Springs United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2018 in the sanctuary of Platt Springs United Methodist Church, 3215 Platt Springs Road, West Columbia, SC 29170, immediately followed by a funeral service conducted by Reverend Michael Hood. A private burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family.
