Come light up the night and usher in the holiday season on the front steps of the State Capitol with a timeless Kentucky Christmas tradition: the Governor’s Christmas Tree Lighting!
Festivities begin Saturday, Dec. 1 at 5:30 p.m. EST. Enjoy complimentary hot chocolate and cookies as you watch performances by an Asbury University music ensemble and the Frankfort Middle School choir prior to the lighting of the Capitol Christmas Tree.
Guests are encouraged to bring along donations of winter clothing for children in Kentucky’s kinship care program in celebration of “A Kinship Kentucky Christmas.” These donations may include clothing in all sizes, from toddlers to teenagers. Donations of $10 gift cards will also be accepted.
Following the ceremony, the Governor’s Mansion is ready to welcome visitors with a visit from Santa Claus and music from Westport Middle School.
This special event will occur rain or shine, so make plans to celebrate this Christmas season with us.
