Kentucky Youth Advocates (KYA) extended an invitation to join its statewide Board of Directors to Mary Lewis of Madison County, and KYA is pleased to announce
her acceptance of a three-year term.
“Mary Lewis has been influential in helping to raise the profile of issues affecting Kentucky kids and has been a leader in helping to train the next generation of youth advocates in Madison county and across the state. We are eager to welcome Mary’s innovative thinking and strong leadership to the Kentucky Youth Advocates board,” said Dale Brown, Chairman of the KYA board.
Mary Lewis is the Program Director for the New Opportunity School for Women (NOSW) in Berea. Prior to her work at NOSW, Mary was Berea College’s Regional Coordinator and lead for Promising Appalachian Leaders in Service (PALS), a group of youth who advocate for policy change and encourage other youth to speak up and take action in their communities. She also serves on the board of Leadership Madison County and is co-chair of their group project We’ve Got Your Back, which provides backpacks and supplies to children entering the foster care system.
“Mary Lewis has a track record of speaking up for some of the most vulnerable Kentuckians. Her advocacy and passion for helping others has brought positive change to her local community and beyond,” said Dr. Terry Brooks, Executive Director of KYA.
