American Book Fest announced the winners and finalists of THE 2018 BEST BOOK AWARDS on November 13, 2018. American Book Fest covers books from all sections of the publishing. The”Best Book” Awards are one of the largest mainstream book award competitions in the United States. The San Francisco Book Review says that the “Best Book Awards has a track record of honoring and promoting books to the national and international community.” Jeffrey Keen, President and CEO of American Book Fest, said of the awards: “This year’s contest yielded over 2,000 entries from authors and publishers around the world, which were then narrowed down to the final results.” The 2018 results represent a phenomenal mix of books from a wide array of publishers throughout the world.

Thomas Smith’s dedication, leadership, and passion are shown in his thirty plus years of community engagement. He has leadership achievements as a community service club leader, volunteer, and speaker. He is a firm believer in giving back to others and believes that it is the most selfless gift you can give. Thomas is passionate about helping others and in 2018 received the prestigious President’s Lifetime Achievement Award for volunteer service, a national honor from the office of the President of the United States and the Corporation for National and Community Service, a federal agency. Thomas earned undergraduate degrees in economics and business management at Berea College in 1979 and his Master’s of Science in Administration at Central Michigan University in 1992 preparing him for leadership roles in public, nonprofit, and private organizations. He is a graduate of the prestigious Stonier Graduate School of Banking, the preeminent executive management school for the financial services industry. In addition, after more than twenty five years in public service, Smith earned a graduate Certificate in Non-Profit Management at the University of Pennsylvania’s College of Liberal and Professional Studies.

Thomas Smith is a seven-time International and National award-winning author and has received many accolades and honors for contributions to his community. He has been recognized for demonstrating humanitarian service at its highest level and an active civic leader. He has shown a generosity of spirit and has selflessly dedicated his time to serving others less fortunate while making a significant humanitarian contribution of volunteer leadership that benefits the lives of others and the welfare of humanity. In 2014, he received the Presidential “Call to Service” Lifetime Achievement Award, national recognition for demonstrating a lifetime commitment to volunteerism. He was invested as an “Active Member of the Legion of Honor” by the Order of DeMolay. He is a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and several other hereditary societies composed of men who trace their descents from forebears who served in establishing and gaining the independence of the United States. Thomas has enjoyed his involvement in Rotary International and believes that there can be no higher recognition than to incorporate the importance of “service above self” in affecting positive and enduring change in the lives of others.
