Leroy Howard, age 84, died Saturday September 15, 2018 at his home in Brodhead. He was born October 28, 1933 in Rockcastle County to the late Luther and Letty Gibson Howard.
Mr. Howard is of the Holiness faith and a member of the Wilderness Holiness Church in Berea. He loved to play his banjo, fish and hunt Ginseng.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by, his wife, Mary Lou Godby, three sisters, Marie Hensley, Eliza Kirby, Della Mae Bowles, two brothers, Earl Howard, and George Howard, two grandchildren, Melissa Johnson, and Bobby Michael Allen, and two great grandsons, Cody Dees, & Clayton Hayes.
Mr. Howard is survived by his children, Letty Howard, Mary Lee (Tim) Gadd, Betty (Steve) Phelps, Ruthetta (Bobby) Allen, Michael (Linda) Howard, Manuel (Rhonda) Howard, Gregory Howard, Loretta (Tim) Hodges, Melissa (Benton) Doan, Deborah (Gregory) Coulton, Lee (Kristen) Howard, and Clinton Howard. One sister Clevie Hensley, 33 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Higher Praise Ministries 4896 Lake Cumberland Rd. Mt. Vernon, KY., with Pastor Chris Davidson and Bro. Allen Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-9 pm at the Church. Davis & Powell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

John Glen Meadows
John Glen Meadows age 87 of Berea, passed away Friday, September 21, 2018 at Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. John was born in Madison County to the late John Henry and Alice Lewis Meadows.
He was retired from the Berea Cable corporation and was a member of the U.S. Airforce.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by three sons, Johnny, Gary and Douglas Meadows and one brother Edgar B. Meadows.
He is survived by his wife Doris Cope Meadows, one son, James (Rita) Meadows, one daughter, Glenda Kirkland, twelve grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11am, Monday, September 24, 2018 at Pilot Knob Cemetery with Bro. Cecil Burns officiating. Lakes Funeral Home Berea is in charge of the arrangements.
Goldie Tudor age 89 of Berea, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018 at her home. Goldie was born in Leslie County to the late C.B. and Mary Ann Wells Causey.
She retired from Parker Seal Manufacturing and was of the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband George Russell Tudor, one son, Elmer Wayne Adams, five brothers, Raymond, Herbert, Sam, Jim and Willie “Bill” Causey, and one sister, Lizzie Adams.
She is survived by her three daughters, Jean Elliott, Janice Faye (Vernon) Pingleton, and Sharon (Roger) Jones; one brother, John (Viney) Causey; one sister, Mae Lamb; eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11am Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Lakes Funeral Home Berea with Rev. Mark Pingleton and Rev. Kenneth Wayne Pingleton officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4-9 pm at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Clara Bernice Goss
Clara Bernice (Stewart) Goss, 79, of Paint Lick, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center of Richmond. She was born September 28, 1938, in Richmond, Kentucky, to Edgar Park and Clara (Cruse) Stewart, both of whom preceded her in death.
Bernice was a retired social worker with the Madison County Health Department and she was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed her family especially the children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her loving husband, Leo Goss of Paint Lick; one son, Chip Goss and one daughter, Tracy Bryant (Michael), both of Richmond; two grandchildren, Caleb and Cadence Goss, both of Richmond and many close friends.
Graveside service for Bernice will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Richmond Cemetery where burial will follow. Visitation will be from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM Friday at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home.

Connie Bonita Parker, 64, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with bladder cancer. She was born May 26, 1954, in Madison County, to the late I. N. and Lucile (Cox) Douglas. She was also preceded in death by her beloved sister, Imogene Morgan.
Connie is survived by her husband of 33 years, Steve Parker and his mother, Doris Parker; her sons, Harold “Rusty” Smith (Angie) of Wilmington, Delaware and Jonathan Smith (Nikki) of Lexington, KY; step-daughter, Tiffany Parker of Richmond; her siblings, Ike Douglas (Regina) and Deborah Johnson (Noah) of Richmond; a very special niece, Jennifer Hisle; two loving grandsons, Gabriel and Colton Smith; nieces and nephews, Jeff Tussey (Eileen) Scott Douglas, and Curtis Johnson (Kristeena). Extended family members include cousins, great nieces, Chandler Dudek, Sierra Hisle, Regan Douglas, and great nephews, Reese and Stone Tussey, Jacob Rowland, Carson Johnson, and many friends. Connie is also survived by her beloved cattle dog, “Wrangler”.
Connie was a strong willed and very intelligent woman. She began work as a secretary at NAILM (National Association of Linen Management) and worked her way up to eventually become CEO of the company. Connie graduated Magna Cum Laude from Eastern Kentucky University with honors on both History and Journalism.
A celebration of Connie’s life will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with visitation from 5 PM until service time on Tuesday. At Connie’s request, casual attire is preferred.
Sheirlan Lovett Barnes, 69, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at the UK Markey Cancer Center of Lexington. Born June 15, 1949, in Richmond, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Hugh Lovett, Jr. and Dorothy (Short) Lovett, both of whom preceded her in death.
Sheirlan was a homemaker, but most of all a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed traveling with the family and playing Facebook games, and she loved her flower garden and her hummingbirds. She attended Brindle Ridge Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ollie D. Barnes, of Richmond; two daughters, Teresa Vinson (Bill) of Richmond and Lisa Porter (Tim) of Lexington; one sister, Beverly Gayle Stillwell (Larry) and one brother, Elmer Lovett (Helen) both of Richmond. She also leaves six grandchildren, Khristy Couch (DJ), Ashley Bennett (Sean), Brandi Blackburn, Amber Willis, Alyssa Porter, and Matthew Porter (Nicole); eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and her “Fur Kid” Buddy Barnes.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Wayne Lovett.

Ronald C. Hackler
Ronald C. Hackler, 84, the husband of Rachel Coffey Hackler, passed away Friday afternoon at Baptist Health-Richmond. Mr. Hackler was born on July 4, 1934 in Worthington, Kentucky, the son of the late Lennie P. and Ollie Smith Hackler.
He was a retired sales representative for Anthem Blue Cross- Blue Shield. He was a former member of the Jaycees, where he had served as State Chaplain. He was a faithful member of The Fountain Park First Church of God where he had served as a trustee and church treasurer.
Survivors in addition to his wife include: two sons: Ronald C. Hackler and Mark E. Hackler (Sandy); one sister: Lorraine Kendell; seven grandchildren: Jason Hackler (Cheryl); Jennifer Hackler, Jessica Hackler Deering (Jonathan), Tatum Hackler; Brittany Hackler; Hayley Hackler and Aubrey Dowd (Nate); six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother: Larry Hackler and three sisters: Dolores Kearns, Inez Young and Clarice Harris.

Shawn Mosley, 23, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018. Shawn was born in Montgomery County on January 2, 1995.
He worked at Pizza Hut in Irvine and enjoyed playing ball and video games.

William Robert Ruble
William Robert Ruble, 80, of Kirksville, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Baptist Health – Richmond. Mr. Ruble, the son of the late Willie “Bill” Ruble and Gladys Shelton Ruble Howard, was born in Madison County on June 26, 1938.
At one point, he worked for Westinghouse but spent most of his time farming which he loved to do. He also enjoyed playing rook with his many friends at the Round Hill General Store. On June 14, 1963, Mr. Ruble was united in marriage to Phyllis Jane Tackett Ruble. They recently celebrated 55 years together.
Other survivors include their son: Bobby Ruble of Richmond; their daughter: Kay & Jeff Renner of Richmond; five grandchildren: Jeff & Elizabeth Renner, Jordan Renner, Austin Ruble, Tanner Gray and Zach Gray and two great grandchildren: Colton Renner and Brentley Ruble.

Imojean “Jean” Cates, 78, of Round Hill, widow of Doug Cates, went to join the Lord on Monday, September 17, 2018. She was born in Wolfe County, Ky., on April 28, 1940, the daughter of the late Jim and Alva Hollon Stamper.
Jean was a farmer and caregiver for the elderly. She was very conscientious and compassionate and had a natural talent for providing for her patients. She loved the Lord and was a member of Gloryland Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Tom Bryan; two daughters, Terri Creech and Saundra Richardson, all of Richmond; two brothers, Jay Stamper and Henry Stamper; one sister, Shirley Riley; six grandchildren, Kayla Cornelison, Amber Richardson, Jessica Combs, Samantha Ash, James Creech and Rachel Creech; six great-grandchildren, Sara Patrick, Aaron Rhorer, Ashdan Combs, Blaise Creech, Abbie Cornelison and Eli Cornelison.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Ross.

Robert Lewis Miller Jr
Mr. Robert Lewis Miller Jr. 66 of London, died Monday, September 17, 2018 at his home. He was born in Berea, KY on April 30, 1952 the son of Robert, Sr. and Mildred Mullins Miller. He was a retired employee of Rumpke Tire Shop.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Darlene Couch Miller; a son, Rodney Lee Miller of London; three brothers, Johnny Miller and wife Jeral, and Doug Miller and wife Karen, both of Hamilton, OH, and William Kenny Miller of Orlando; and three grandchildren, Maylee Miller, Mildred Miller, and Hezekiah Miller. A host of other family and friends also survives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Ray Miller.

Keith Linville Coffey
Mr. Keith Linville Coffey, age 71, of Mt. Vernon, KY, husband of Susan Bray Coffey passed away Saturday, September 22nd, 2018, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, KY. He was born September 12th, 1947 in Berea, Kentucky to Willis Linville Coffey and the late Ada Jean Coffey.
He attended Carmichael Community Church and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed coon hunting, fishing and farming. Keith was a Loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by a wife of 47 years, Susan Bray Coffey, his children: Jennifer (Eddie) Carpenter of Mt. Vernon, KY; Julie (Robert) Phillips of Mt. Vernon, KY and one (adopted by faith): Jeff (Shona) Brock of Crab Orchard, KY; grandchildren: Callie Bray Carpenter, Kennedy Alexandria Carpenter, Keith Edward Carpenter, Gentry Robert Phillips, Emma Grace Phillips and Ava E. Bray Phillips; great-grandchildren: (JEP) Johnathan Edward Carpenter; brothers: Steve A. Coffey and Willis G. Coffey.

Edward Lee Ross, age 84, of Crystal Creek in Beattyville, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018, at the Compassionate Care Center following a short illness. He was born December 16, 1933 in Lee County and was the son of the late Robert Walker and Mammie Stamper Ross.
He was a retired Allen Company employee and a member of the Sandfield Pentecostal Community Church. He had lived in Lee County all his life.

Lonzo Cain was born March 16, 1948 in Jackson County and departed this life Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Georgetown Community Hospital in Georgetown, KY being 70 years of age. He was the son of the late Lawrence and Floa Mae (Lamb) Cain of Jackson County.
Lonzo is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shereta (Jones) Cain; four sons, Michael (Lori) Cain of Cynthiana, Mark (Bobbi) Cain of Georgetown, Marty Cain of Sadieville and Mickey Cain of Georgetown. He had eight grandchildren, Noah Cain, Rebekah Cain, Jacob Cain, Tyler Cain, Thomas Cain, Joseph Cain, Madison Cain and Mason Cain. He is also survived by two sisters, Yvonne Van Winkle of Berea, Elva Ingram of Berea; two brothers, Harold (Carolyn) Cain of Richmond, Phillip (Teresa) Cain of Berea. He had many nieces and nephews and family he loved. He also had a special friend, Logan Cain of Jackson County.
In addition to his parents, Lonzo was preceded in death by a sister, Rosa Lee Cain of Jackson County; a father in law, Fletcher Jones of Jackson County/Indiana; two brother in laws, Ed Van Winkle of Berea and Kenneth Ingram of Berea and a nephew Brian Edward Cain of Berea.
Lonzo was of the Holiness Faith and attended many Holiness churches in Jackson and Madison Counties calling all of them home. He was a friend to all.

Linda Sue Sparks
Linda Sue (McKinney) Sparks was born February 24, 1959 in Berea and departed this life Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at her residence, being 59 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Delbert & Bessie (Fox) McKinney.
Linda is survived by her husband, Darrell Sparks of McKee and by two sons, Larry Rader and Jerry Rader both of McKee. She is also survived by a sister, Bonnie Collins of Michigan and by two brothers, Mike McKinney and his wife Brenda in McKee and Junior McKinney of Richmond, IN. Linda was blessed with one grandson, Andrew.
In addition to her parents, Linda was also preceded in death by the following siblings, Ronnie, Danny & Caush McKinney, Opal Mae Himes, Cora Spivey and Dora Bruns.
Linda was a member of the Turkey Foot Holiness Church.

Erene Davidson was born November 20, 1935 in Jackson County and departed this life Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Baptist Health Hospital in Richmond, being 82 years of age. He was the son of the late Alfred & Alma (Belt) Davidson.
Erene is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Alma (Lynch) Davidson of Tyner and by two daughters, Vickie Kidwell and her husband Emery of Franklin, OH and Kim Robinson of Tyner. Erene & Alma raised their grandson, Brad Davidson as their own. In addition to Brad, they were also blessed with three other grandchildren, Brandon Bridges, Holly Robinson and Caleb Robinson and by a great grandchild, Bailee Grace. Other survivors include his brother, Kenneth Davidson and his wife Lorene of West Chester, OH and his sister, Irene Garner and her husband Jim of West Chester, OH.
In addition to his parents, Erene was also preceded in death by his son in law, Glendon Robinson.
Erene was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War. He was also a member and Deacon of the New Zion Baptist Church.

Helen Madden was born December 11, 1935 in Owsley County and departed this life Sunday, September 16, 2018 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, being 82 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Luther Clint & Sophia (Fields) Madden.
Helen is survived by three children, William (Red) Madden and Jeania of Berea, Donna Madden of Richmond and Cindy Harris and James of McKee. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, William (Ericka) Madden, Sabrina Madden, Talina Madden, Shawna (Keith) Weaver, Alisha (Jonathan) Gilbert, Chris (Alex) Moore, Erica Madden and Stephanie (Bailey) Turpin and by the following great grandchildren, Blake, Aliyah, Aiden, Landon, Lillian, Ava, Jordan, Jakodi, Katherina and one on the way. She is also survived by a host of special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Helen was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Madden; her son, James Leon Madden; three sisters, Rose Webb, Sarah Pearson and Bobbie Rybolt; a niece, Margaret Morris and two nephews, Don Pearson and Eddie Pearson.
Helen was a member of the Birch Lick Baptist Church.
