Berea Police Report June 12, 2018


Shoplifting Arrest: On 06/10/2018 Walmart employees observed a subject conceal several items in his clothing before attempting to leave the store. As officers were arriving, the store employees confronted the subject who ran on foot. After a short foot chase, the subject was apprehended and placed under arrest.

Officers charged 38 year old Thomas Carpenter of Berea KY with the following:

-Theft By Unlawful Taking Shoplifting
-Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd Degree
-Resisting Arrest
-Criminal Trespassing 3rd Degree


DUI Arrest: On 06/09/2018 a traffic stop was conducted on Richmond Road for a seat belt violation. The driver of the vehicle had a strong odor of alcohol, and showed other signs of intoxication.

Officers arrested 24 year old Richard Johnson of Lexington KY and charged him with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence 1st Offense.


Shoplifting Arrest: On 06/07/2018 Walmart employees observed a subject attempt to leave the store with merchandise that he did not pay for. When he was confronted, he dropped the merchandise and ran from the area on foot. He was located by officers at Gamestop and placed under arrest.

Officers charged 32 year old Andrew Riggen of Columbia KY with Theft By Unlawful Taking Shoplifting.

Lost and Found

Lost and Found: The Berea Police Department have had this in our found property locker since August of last year. We would like to return it to the rightful owner. It was found near Silver Creek Elementary.
