Mountaineers Defeat Spalding in Season Opener

The men’s basketball team welcomed Spalding University to the Seabury Center for their first home game of the 2017-18 season. Berea was able to maintain the lead for most of the game and in the end defeated the Golden Eagles 68-53.

At half time Berea lead the Golden Eagles 35-27. Freshman Torell Carter led the first half with 12 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. Dakota Mays added 10 points in the first half as well. Berea shot 42 percent from the field and committed 8 turnovers in the first half.

Berea was able to gain momentum in the final five minutes of the second half to pull away from the Golden Eagles and secure the win by a score of 68-53. Dakota Mays Led the Mountaineers with 22 points. Freshman, Torell Carter recorded a triple double in his first college game with 16 points, 14 rebounds and 13 assists.

The men will be back in action Homecoming Weekend taking on the Johnson University Royals on November 18th at 7:30.
