Berea Community High School senior recognized

Kentucky’s all-time leading scorer in high school soccer was recognized Tuesday night at a meeting of the Berea City Council. City leaders honored Berea Community High School senior Hannah Wallhausser (far right), as her mother, Brenna, and her father, Karl, looked on.

Wallhausser recently shattered the Kentucky high school scoring record, finishing her high school career with 202 goals. Reading from remarks prepared by Berea Independent School District Superintendent Mike Hogg, Mayor Steve Connelly highlighted Wallhausser’s contributions as a student athlete and citizen at BCHS.

“In addition to being an exceptional soccer player, Hannah is also an excellent student, having been selected to the prestigious Governor’s Scholars Program, and also maintaining a 3.8 GPA while taking advanced college courses. She is also involved in band and other extracurricular activities, and is currently weighing multiple college offers,” Connelly said. Further quoting Hogg, Connelly stated: “We are proud of her athletic and academic accomplishments, and also proud of the fact that she is an outstanding citizen in our school community and a strong advocate for other students.”

After a round of applause from the audience, Wallhausser expressed appreciation to Berea’s citizens and the school community for their support. “It’s just wonderful representing this community, and to have the school behind me. Thank you,” Wallhausser said.
