Lancaster man charged allegedly dealing drugs near school

A Lancaster man was charged with several drug related crimes after allegedly dealing drugs near the parent pick-up line at Lancaster Elementary last Wednesday afternoon. Bobby Shumaker, 63, was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and second-degree wanton endangerment.

His vehicle was parked in the child pick-up line when he got out of his car, walked down to the end of the street behind a service station and made the transaction in view of officers before returning to his vehicle.

As officers approached him he threw approx 10 Hydrocodone tablets into the parking lot of the elementary school.

Our officers were able to obtain a search warrant the next day and retrieved approximately 2,300 scheduled pills from the residence, along with over 8,000 in cash in mostly $20 bills.
