Berea Police Report Sept. 12, 2017


Wanton Endangerment: On 09/04/2017 officers were called to Walmart in reference to a small child left alone in a vehicle. The vehicle was located, but not locked, and the child was removed. The engine was not running and it was muggy inside of the car. The parents of the child were eventually located, and it was discovered that the child had been left in the car for approximately 15 minutes.

Officers arrested 38 year old Kristina Grimes of Berea KY and 41 year old Michael Grimes of Berea KY. They were both charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree.


DUI Arrest: On 09/06/2017 officers were called to Redi Mart on Glades Road in reference to a female who was possibly under the influence. She left before they arrived, but her vehicle was located and a traffic stop was conducted on Richmond Road. The driver kept saying things that didn’t make sense, and appeared to be hallucinating. She showed several signs of impairment, and was placed under arrest.

Officers charged 42 year old Patricia Meade of Prestonsburg KY with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence 1st Offense.


Burglary Arrest: On 09/06/2017 additional charged were placed against 41 year old Luther Akers of Berea KY, as the result of an ongoing investigation. He was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree and Receiving Stolen Property $10,000 or More. These charges stem from multiple thefts from storage units.

Akers was already lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.


Drug Arrest: On 09/07/2017 an officer observed a male subject walking on Chestnut Street who had an active arrest warrant. Contact was made and he was placed under arrest. Inside of his pants pockets he had a small plastic bag containing Marijuana and 4 Neurontin tablets.

Officers arrested 29 year old Earl Eads of Berea KY and charged him with Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree and Possession of Marijuana.


Drug Arrest: On 09/07/2017 an officer was conducting a business check at Walmart, when he was stopped by a store employee in reference to a suspicious person. The subject was located and attempted to give a false name to the officer. Inside of her purse she had a clear plastic bag with a brown powder substance inside, suspect to be Heroin.

Officers arrested 31 year old Kimberly Downs of Richmond KY and charged her with Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Heroin).
