Walter Saylor

Walter Saylor, age 62, died Friday, May 5, 2017, at Saint Joseph Berea in the Emergency Department. A native of Garrard County, Kentucky he was born February 21, 1955, to the late Eli and Cindy Roark Saylor.

Mr. Saylor was of the Pentecostal Holiness Faith.

Other than his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers; David J. and Dillard Saylor.

Mr. Saylor is survived by his brother and two sisters; Billy Lee (Nancy) Saylor of Nicholasville, Kentucky and Margaret Saylor of Chipley, Florida and Loretta Caldwell of Pineville, Kentucky. He loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own children and made his home with his niece Teresa Saylor. Other survivors are; a special great-nephew; Brandon Koon, friends, Travis Powell, Anthony Smith, and Debra Henry.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Harmons Lick Holiness Church in Garrard County. Burial will follow in the String Town Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6:00 pm Tuesday at the church. Davis & Powell Funeral Home in Charge of arrangements.

Jerry Lee Parker

Jerry Lee Parker

Jerry Lee Parker, age 54, of Berea, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017 at U.K. Medical Center in Lexington. Jerry was born in Madison County to Sarah Alexander Parker and the late Dallas Parker.

He retired as a machinist from Integrity Molding in Mt. Vernon and was a member of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his wife Tammie Eden Parker and a very close nephew Jimmy Parker.

He is survived by his son, Jared Parker; his mother Sarah Parker; six siblings and many extended family members.

Funeral services will be 2pm Monday, May 8, 2017 at Lakes Funeral Home Berea with his brother, Rev. Gary Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the Wallaceton Cemetery. Visitation will be 11am-2pm Monday at the funeral home.

Shannon Eugene McKeehan

Shannon McKeehan

Shannon McKeehan age 41, husband of Savannah McKeehan, died Tuesday May 2, 2017 at his home after his battle with cancer. Shannon was a painter, but he loved his cars and he was an excellent car detailer.

Shannon was preceded in death by his father Howard “Gene” McKeehan.

Shannon is survived by his wife Savannah Wilder McKeehan, his mother Barbara Webb McKeehan-Perry, his sons: Tyler Eugene McKeehan, and Devon Blake McKeehan, his step sons: William Riley Jr., Gary Wayne Riley, Trenton Ray, and CJ Young, his step daughter Laura Susannah Wilder, his granddaughter Trinity Ann McKeehan, his sister Misty Dawn Pennington (Drew Graves), and nephews Zachary Bauer, Little Virgil Turner, and Xavier Graves.

Funeral services will be Saturday May 6, 2017 at 1 pm, burial will be in the Crab Orchard Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5-9 pm at Lakes Funeral Home Berea,

Hubert Lynn Hatton

Hubert Lynn Hatton

Hubert Lynn Hatton, age 47, of Berea, passed away suddenly at Baptist Health Hospital in Richmond on Saturday, April 29, 2017. Hubert was born in Berea to the late Frances Damrell and Hubert Hatton.

He formerly worked for the Richmond Police Department, Madison County Road Department and for Chester Powell. He was a US Army veteran.

In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by his grandparents Louise and Jack Cairell.

He is survived by his loving wife Crystal Hatton, four children Cotey Lynn Hatton, Dallas Joe Hatton, Philip Dale Tartt, and Bryan Charles Tartt; his father Hubert Hatton; two sisters Angel Louise (Trenton) Chambers and BillieJo Bergetta (Jason) Villerreal; three grandchildren Abbigale Louise, Jake Ewan, and Jessica Marie Hatton. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Memorial services will be Friday, May 5, 2017 from 4-6PM at Cartersville Holiness Church.

Jennifer Kay Johnson, 53, died Monday, May 1, 2017 following an illness. Born May 3, 1963 in Berea Jennifer is the daughter of John and LaVerne Thacker Powell of Berea.

She knew where she was going, to be with the Lord. A Boone Tavern team member, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all that knew her, she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents she is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth “Kenny” Johnson; two daughters; Kelsey (Adam) Scenters, Keeley (Dustin) Rader; one grandchild, Jenna Scenters; three siblings, Judy Reams, Janet Sowers and James Powell.

She was preceded in death by an infant child and a brother, Jack Powell.

Funeral Service 1:00 PM, Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Reppert Funeral Home with Pastor Kenny Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Silver Creek Cemetery. Visitation 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are James Powell, Adam Scenters, Dustin Rader, Jeffrey Sowers, Jeremy Reams and Billy Dale Powell.

Harden Sturgill

Harden Sturgill, 89, of Berea, died at his residence Wednesday, May 3, 2017. He was a Madison County native born August 23, 1927, son of the late Lee and Lucy Thomas Sturgill, and had lived in Madison County most of his life.

Harden was a former employee of L & N Railway, former Britton Chevrolet Company service department employee and ran a transmission shop where he serviced and repaired transmissions. His greatest pleasure was fishing for catfish, especially at his favorite location at Lake Linville in Renfro Valley.

He is survived by 6 children he raised; Loretta Agee, Johnny (Geraldine) Sturgill, Stella Alexander, Sue (Hamilton) Speaks, Darren Sturgill, Cynthia (Virgil) Himes; 25 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; as well as a host of relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Gracie Jones Sturgill; son, Bobby Sturgill; grandson, Jesse Lunsford; great granddaughter, Alicia Sturgill; and 6 siblings.

Funeral Service 2:00 pm, Monday, May 8, 2017 at Reppert Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Osborne and Bro. James Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in Kirby Cemetery. Visitation Monday 12:00 noon until service time.

Pallbearers will be: Phillip Johnson, Jack Bishop, Daniel Herron, Nicole Johnson, Jamie Alexander, Kevin King.

Mervin Senters

Mervin Senters

Mervin Senters, 67, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017 at his home. He was the husband of Anna Garrett Senters. Mervin was born on October 7, 1949 in Manchester, Kentucky, and was the son of Estill and Ruth Goins Senters, both of whom preceded him in death.

He was the retired owner of Senters Concrete Construction and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Richmond.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: one daughter, Daphne Jewell (Randy), of Richmond; two sons, Mervin Senters Jr. (Regina) and Billy Senters (Andrea), both of Ohio; seven grandchildren, Dylan Senters, Courtney Muddiman, Caitlin Senters, Dylan Williams (Ashley), Kyle Senters, Elleah Senters, and Tyler Senters; three great-grandchildren, Addy Williams, Arizona Senters, and Cali Muddiman; four brothers, Gary Senters (Robin), Ronnie Senters, Mike Senters, and Tim Senters (Kathy); and three sisters, Debbie Marcum (Greg), Sandy Denton (Keith), and Glenda Knower (Pokey).

He was preceded in death by a brother, Sonny Senters.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Greene officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Donna Howard Quinn

Donna Howard Quinn, 62, of Richmond, the wife of Roy Thomas Quinn, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center of Richmond. Born January 25, 1955, in Richmond, to Deane Moore Cruse and the late Ray Howard.

Also preceding her in death was her step-father, Ernest Cruse. Donna was a banking consultant for HSBC and a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed traveling. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her husband, Roy and her mother, Deane, she is survived by one daughter, Whitney Hall; two grandsons, Rylan and Mason; and one brother Michael Howard.

Visitation will be after 1:00 PM Monday, May 8, 2017, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM that day at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with Dr. Virgil Grant officiating. Private burial will be later in the Richmond Cemetery.

Kenneth Lee Johnson

Kenneth Lee Johnson

Kenneth Lee Johnson, 79, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Joy Etta Cox Johnson. Kenneth was born on November 26, 1937 in Richmond, and was the son of John Walker Johnson and Eva Lee “Doolie” Roberts Johnson, both of whom preceded him in death.

He retired from Rainbow Bread Company after 30 years of service, and was a member of Union City Christian Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He had been a Native American enthusiast all of his life, and enjoyed collecting and making artifacts. He loved nature and wildlife, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: one son, Kenneth Lee Johnson, Jr. (Debra), of Richmond; three daughters, Rose Anne Johnson Rule, of Berea, Tammy Elizabeth Johnson Brinegar (Robert), of Winchester, and Donna Patrice Cruse, of Lexington; two step-sons, Jerry Noland and Jimmy Noland, both of Richmond; one step-daughter, Terri Clark Boggs (Sandy), of Lexington; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his first wife, Alberta Powell Johnson; an infant son; a son, Deron Welch Johnson; a step-daughter, Melissa Edington; three brothers, Conrad Wayne Johnson, Bobby Lynn Johnson, and David Alan Johnson.

Funeral services for Kenneth Johnson will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Closterman officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be B.J. Rhodus, Neil Rhodus, Jessie Cocanougher, Nate Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Ian Johnson, Jeremy Cocanougher, and Jase Cocanougher.

Thelma Irene Falkenberg

Thelma Irene Falkenberg, age 92, of Richmond KY went to be with her Lord on April 30, 2017 at Hospice of Dayton Ohio. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Milton W Falkenberg.

She is survived by her sister, Ardath Effa and brother-in-law, Rev Herman Effa of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; daughter, Connie L McMillan of Dayton Ohio, son-in-law, Grant McMillan; son, Steve Falkenberg of Copper Canyon Texas, daughter-in-law, Doll Falkenberg; grandchildren Rebecca Falkenberg of Atlanta, Georgia; David Falkenberg (wife Layne Falkenberg) of Burleson, Texas; Jason McMillan of Columbus Ohio; Brian McMillan (wife Jeanna McMillan)of Union Ky. and her great-grandchildren Matthew Falkenberg, Abby Falkenberg, Benjamin McMillan, Molly McMillan, step-great grandchildren Lexie Iles, and Ashley Iles.

She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, Richmond KY and a faithful Sunday school teacher for many years. She lovingly referred to her Sunday school class as “her girls”.

A memorial service will be held at Oldham Roberts and Powell Funeral Home in Richmond, KY on Saturday May 20, 2017. The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m. with services to follow at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Irene’s wishes were that donations be made in her name to Happy Hill Church, 7900 East FM 917, Alvarado, Texas 76009 where her grandson, David, is pastor.

Bertha Blakeman

Bertha Lee Blakeman

Bertha Lee Blakeman, 84, the widow of A. J. “Art” Blakeman, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 2, 2017, at The Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. Mrs. Blakeman was born on June 9, 1932 in Casey County, the daughter of the late James Levi Harden Coyle and Pearlie Irene Hafley Coyle.

She was a member of The Community Church of God and The Rybolt Homemakers Club. Earlier she had served as President of the Jr. ROTC Parents Association. It was said the she had a green thumb, and because of that, she loved to garden. She also loved to crochet and make beautiful bedspreads.

Survivors include: two sons: Arthur Wayne (Alice) Blakeman of Bradenton, FL, and Timothy (Marlene) Blakeman, of Nashville, TN; four daughters: Phyllis (Wesley) Morgan of London, KY, Brenda Blakeman of Richmond, Elizabeth (Terry-Deceased) Angle of Richmond and Deborah (Marcus) Hisle of Mt. Sterling; one brother: James Thomas (Joyce ) Coyle; a sister-in-law: Pauline Coyle; Ten grandchildren: Brenda Carol Tomerlin, Dale Morgan, Adam Angle, Misty Black, Meghan Blakeman, Crystal Aulds, Bethany Hisle, Austin Blakeman, Angie Greer and Tiffany Brown; fifteen great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a brother: Paul Hardin Coyle.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. James Southerland officiating. Burial will follow at Madison Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5-9 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be: Austin Blakeman, Lesley Aulds, John Becker, Chris Tomerlin, Dale Morgan and Daniel Maxey.

Dewey Russell McIntosh

Mr. Dewey Russell McIntosh, 58 of Liberty, died Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at his home. He was born in Berea, KY on May 30, 1958 the son of Bobby and Laura Bullock McIntosh.

He is survived by his wife, Tammie McIntosh of Canadian, TX; a son, Dewey Lee Lunch of Liberty; a daughter, Detria McIntosh of Big Springs, TX; ten brothers, James McIntosh, Matthew McIntosh, John McIntosh, Timothy McIntosh, Sam McIntosh, Mark McIntosh, Phillip McIntosh, Elmer Mullins, Daniel Mullins, and Bobby B. McIntosh; and two sisters, Maudie Mae McIntosh and Oneida Compeau. Seven grandchildren also survive.

A graveside service will take place at 2:00 PM May 6, 2017 at the Bullock Family Cemetery.

Randall Earl Bowles was born July 11, 1948 in Richmond Kentucky and departed this life Saturday, May 6, 2017 in Clayborne County Tennessee, being 68 years of age. He was the son of the late Earl and Freda Harrison Bowles.

Randall was survived by his wife, Mary Tankersley Bowles and by two daughters; Dianna Ruth Madden and Donna Marie Bowles all of London. In addition, he is survived by the following siblings; Donnie and Glenda Bowles of Sand Gap, Lonnie Dale and Bonnie Bowles of Sand Gap, Stewart Wayne and Gail Bowles of McKee, Glenn and Kay Bowles of McKee, Danny Bowles of Sand Gap, Curt Douglas Bowles of McKee, Brenda Joy and Vernon Gray Jr. of Sand Gap, Peggy and Tim Elam of Berea, and by Lisa and Ricky Issacs of Sand Gap. He was blessed with nine nephews, five nieces, nine great-nephews, and seven great-nieces.

Randall was a member of the West London Baptist Church.

Danny Clemmons was born August 18, 1945 in Jackson County and departed this life Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the Mercy South Hospital in Fairfield, OH, being 71 years of age. He was the son the late George Clemmons and Virgie Baker Clemmons.

Danny is survived by his wife, JoAnn (Callahan) Clemmons of Hamilton, OH and by one son, Randy Clemmons. He was the brother of Bert, Bill Jack, Elmer, Floyd & Ray Clemmons, Lois McDowell and Bonnie Lewis. Danny was blessed with two grandchildren, Aaron Clemmons and Amber Clemmons.

Funeral service 1:00PM Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Lakes Funeral Home McKee with Bro. Danny Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Gabbard Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Scott Townsley, Robbie Belt, Clyde Davidson, Aaron Clemmons & Daniel Clemmons.

Judy Faye McKinney

Judy Faye (Adkins) McKinney was born September 19, 1957 in Jackson County and departed this life Sunday, April 30, 2017 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, being 59 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Seth & Sally (Gamble) Adkins.

Judy is survived by three daughters, Janet (Terry) Marshall of McKee, Lois Ann Barrett of Nicholasville and Ashley (John Brooks) Potter of Richmond. She is also survived by the following siblings, Robert Adkins and Gladys Adkins both of Madison County, John Adkins, Paul Adkins and Violet Ann King all of Sand Gap, Jerry Adkins, Delbert Adkins, Arvil Adkins and Helen Turner all of McKee. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Jessica Marshall & Caitlin Marshall, Alexis Potter and Kylin Brooks and by a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Judy was also preceded in death by her husband, Alvin McKinney and by a sister, Novella Sue Turner.

Judy attended Faith Baptist Church.

Funeral service 2:00PM Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Lakes Funeral Home McKee with Bro. Wayne Carpenter officiating. Burial followed in the T.M. Lakes Cemetery.
