John Bryant Marcum Sr.
John Bryant Marcum Sr. 69, of Berea, passed away at his home Wednesday, December 21, 2016, after a long battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. J.B. was born in Berea to the late Rollie and Grace Short Marcum.
He retired from the Madison County Board of Education after 22 years, and currently served as Constable for Madison County, 1st District for the past 42 years. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of the Kentucky Constable Association.
J.B. is survived by his wife Patricia Reed Marcum, two children John “Bryant” (Kayla) Marcum Jr. and Kristie Marcum; one brother Jerry Marcum; four nieces and nephews Teresa Rose, Debbie Brooks, Junior Dees and Josh Marcum; he also left behind his beloved boxer, Trooper. Numerous cousins, extended family and friends, who he loved deeply, also survive him.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister Shirley Marcum Dees and his beloved dog Roc.
Funeral services will be 1pm Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Lakes Funeral Home Berea with Rev. Kenny Davis, Rev. Randy McPheron and Rev. Mark Sarver officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5-8pm Monday, December 26, 2016 at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Darnell Martin, Jason Kirby, Billy Beavers, Randy Hensley, and Bryant Marcum. Honorary bearers will be Richie Harold, Mike Lee, Roger Dale Wolfe, Mike Reed and Josh Marcum.
Mary Elizabeth Harding
Mary Elizabeth Thomas Harding age 99, died Friday Dec. 23, 2016 at her home in the Clear Creek community in Rockcastle County. Mary was born April 15, 1917 to the late James H. Thomas and Flearie Robinson Thomas, Mary was also preceded in death by her husband John F. Harding, her son Paul Harding, her daughter Betty Jane Harding, two son-in-law’s Hubert Abney and Glen Martin, several siblings, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary was a loving mother and grandmother; and she was a member of the Clear Creek Baptist Church.
Mary is survived by her children: Kathleen Abney of Berea, Wayne (Thelma) Harding of Mt. Vernon, Linda Martin of Berea, Bonnie (William) Lewis of London, Esther (Bennie) Gay of Berea, David (Kathy) Harding of Mt. Vernon, Janice (Ron) Owens of Mt. Vernon, and Perry (Phyllis) Harding of Mt. Vernon, she has 38 grandchildren and more than 200 great and great-great-grandchildren, and her sister Mossie Mullins of Berea also survives Mary.
Funeral services will be Wednesday Dec. 28, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Lakes Funeral Home Berea with Rev. Wayne Harding and Rev. Chris Cobb officiating. Burial will be in the Dees – Harding Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday Dec. 27, 2016 from 6-9 pm at the Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Greg Abney, John Harding, Jeff Martin, Patrick Gay, Boyd Lewis, Terry Harding, Blade Owens, Trent Harding, and Wayne Jackson Lear; her honorary pallbearers will be the rest of the family.
Dorothy Pharris, 53, of Brandy Lane in Richmond, passed away Monday, December 19, 2016. Dorothy was born in Breatthit County, Kentucky.
She is survived by her two sons William Pharris and Shannon Matt (Miranda) Russell; three siblings David, Lena May and Addie; six grandchildren Lacie, Abby and Jaxon Russell, Gary Hampton, Lauren and Alex Pharris.
She was preceded in death by two siblings Irvin and Irene.
Funeral services will be 8pm Thursday evening at Lakes Funeral Home Berea with Bro. Bill VanWinkle officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
Raymond Anglin, 83, of Richmond, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Baptist Health – Richmond. He was born, October 30, 1933, in Madison County to Will and Nancy Jane Powell Anglin, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a life-long farmer and enjoyed trapping.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lillie Mae Skinner Anglin; two daughters, Barbara Lear of Cartersville, Janet Roberts (Ronnie) of Berea; two sons, Ricky Anglin of Richmond and Michael Anglin (Amy) of Berea; two sisters, Myrtle Jenkins of Irvine and Bertha Willis (James) of Red Lick; seven grandchildren, Kevin Anglin, Khris Allen Anglin, Bridgett Anglin, Brittany Trent, Cheyenne Collins, Spencer Prewitt and Riley Noah Anglin; and 12 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and five sisters.
Funeral Service for Raymond will be 1:00 PM Monday, December 26, 2016 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Cecil Burns officiating. Burial will follow in the Pilot Knob Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 AM until service time on Monday at the funeral home.

Ann Stanley Marcum Hill, 88, of Richmond, passed away Monday, December 19, 2016 at her home. Born December 30, 1927, in Manchester, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Frank W. and Mabel Baker Marcum, both of whom preceded her in death.
She was the widow of Jesse B. Hill and a retired Circuit Court Clerk for Clay County, Kentucky. Ann was a member of the Manchester United Methodist Church and regularly attended St. Mark Catholic Church of Richmond.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jesse, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Harriett Hill.
Survivors include three daughters, Ann Russell Hill of Richmond, Jessica H. Myers (Michael) of Lexington, and Emmalee Hill Hoover (Doug) of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Lillian Marcum Rachelson of Plantation, Florida; and one grandchild, Stewart R. Parker (Silke Sterling).
The funeral service for Ann will be 11:00 AM Thursday, December 22, 2016, at St. Mark Catholic Church with Fr. Tom Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Manchester Memorial Gardens, at 3:00 PM Thursday. Visitation will be from 6:30 – 8:30 PM Wednesday and after 10 AM Thursday at the church. Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home in in charge of arrangements.

Joseph Vernon Deaton
Joseph Vernon “Joe” Deaton, 49, passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 18, 2016 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was the husband of Carla Combs Deaton. Joe was born on September 15, 1967 in Pikeville, Kentucky, and was the son of Phyllis Rollins Deaton and the late Charles Deaton Jr.
He had served in the U.S. Navy. Joe was self-employed in the communications industry and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by: two daughters, Alicia Danielle Deaton and Elizabeth Ann Deaton; two brothers, Charles Rollins Deaton, of Omaha, Nebraska, and William Chadwell Deaton, of Fernandina Beach, Florida; one grandchild, Joseph Conley Deaton; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Joe Deaton will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Dr. Curtis Christian officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service on Friday.

Richard Lee Taylor II
Richard Lee Taylor II, 35, passed away Sunday evening, December 18, 2016. He was born, April 28, 1981 in Lexington, Kentucky to Marva P. Taylor and Richard L. Taylor.
Lee graduated from Bourbon County High School and attended both Western Kentucky University and Eastern Kentucky University. He loved sports and was an avid UK basketball fan.
In addition to his parents, Lee is survived by twin sons, Bryson and Braeden Agee-Taylor, a brother, Jeremy Taylor, a fiancé Jessica Agee, and grandparents Marvin and Barbara Perkins.
He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents William Perry and Reda Taylor. He also leaves two aunts, an uncle, and several cousins.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, December 23, 2016 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with David Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
Linda Lee Harris
Linda Lee Kane Harris, 75, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. She was the widow of John Wayne Harris. Linda was born on July 27, 1941 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of Robert and Maxine Marquis Kane, both of whom preceded her in death.
She was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church and had worked at Plexus Electronic Assembly.
Survivors include: two sons, Keith Harris and Kevin Harris (Shaunna), both of Richmond; one daughter, Kathy Johnson (Greg), of Richmond; three grandsons, Tyler, Nathan, and Logan; two brothers, Danny Kane and Glenn Kane; and one sister, Kathy McCabe.
Funeral services for Linda Harris will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Father Tom Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at the funeral home.

Dwight Winkler, 66, passed away on December 17, 2016 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. Dwight was born on January 13, 1950 in Richmond, and was the son of Charles and Evelyn Winkler, both of whom preceded him in death.
He was a self-employed businessman and landscaper, and was a member of First Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and UK athletics, and loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include: his wife, Sherry Woolum Winkler, of Richmond; one son, Chad Winkler, of Bardstown; two daughters, Niki Winkler Howard (John), of Bardstown, and Shauna Michelle Winkler, of Charleston, SC; six grandchildren, Chase Howard, Sammi Howard, Owen Howard, Caden Winkler, Grant Winkler, Brooklyn Winkler; one brother, Ricky Winkler (Marsha), of Newby; two brothers-in-law, Jerry Woolum and Kerry Woolum (Kathy), both of Pineville; a sister-in-law, Terry Nelms, of Erlanger; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dwight was preceded in death by: a brother, Shelby Winkler; a brother-in-law, Ken Nelms; and a sister-in-law, Kaye Woolum.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Fort officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday.

Minnie Christine Warmouth, 94, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2016 at Baptist Health after a long illness. She was a farmer and a homemaker. She was born in Garrard Co., Ky. on July 30, 1922, the daughter of the late William and Bessie Locker Naylor.
She was a member of the Gilead Baptist Church. Christine loved working in tobacco and raising cattle and kids. In the years before her illness, she was an honest and hard working mother who raised her children with these traits.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Warmouth; a daughter, Edith Mae Durham; sisters, Elsie and Helen Gilliam; brother, William Naylor; niece, Orvetta Munson.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Howard (Rickey) of Richmond; three grandchildren, Debbie Brown (Don) of Peachtree, GA., Jim Newby, and Marty Broaddus (Amber), all of Richmond; special nephews, Lewis Simpson (Mary) of Arizona, Delbert (Jean) Gilliam, and Mason Gilliam, all of Kirksville; special friends, B.J. Newton and Flora, Patricia May, Alco Ward, and Linda Foster.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 PM Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. David Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be after 9 AM Thursday at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Mike Stewart, age 53 of Burnside, KY, died Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset. He was born in Rockcastle Co., KY on June 16, 1963 the son of Charles and Mary McGuire Stewart.
He was a machine operator for Armstrong Wood Flooring in Somerset and had previously worked in the Maintenance Department for Eastern Kentucky University and Berea College and later at Somerset Community College. He was also a licensed electrician and plumber and was of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed Nascar racing, riding his motorcycle and making wood products.
Mr. Stewart is survived by wife: Betty Stewart of Burnside; two daughters: Kim Stewart and Samantha (Daniel) Hamilton both of Richmond; two step sons: James Viars and Jessie Walters both of Burnside; his parents: Charles and Mary Stewart; one brother: Larry (Lisa) Stewart of Mt. Vernon and one sister: Teresa (Tim) Daugherty of Livingston. Also surviving are two grandsons: Cody Jackson and Coty Hamilton.
Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his grandparents: John and Audrey French McGuire and Sam and Pairalee Leger Stewart; one infant brother: Charles Wesley Stewart and one brother: Jeffery Charles Stewart.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 20, 2016 6-9 PM and after 9 AM on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Dowell & Martin Funeral Home. Funeral will be Wednesday, December 21, 2016 1 PM at the Funeral Home Interment will follow at the Briarfield Cemetery.
Skyler Anna Belle Benton Felty age 2 days, passed away Saturday December 17, 2016 at the U.K. Hospital. She was born on December 15, 2016 in Lexington, KY the daughter of Jeremy Felty & Cheyenne Hensley.
Survivors besides her mother & father are: two brothers; Tyler Felty of Mt.Vernon, and Jeremy Felty of Somerset. One sister; Hailey Felty of Berea also survives.

Robert “Buddy” King, 66, of Stanford, KY passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford. Born December 30, 1949 in Stanford to the late Silas and Sue Ellen Phillips King.
He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, and was a former employee of American Greetings Inc. and also Wausau Paper where he worked for four years. He was also a former member of Neal’s Creek United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife Martha Symonds King of Stanford, KY, one daughter; Lisa Adkins of Waynesburg, KY, two sons; Robert Silas King, Jr. and Daaron King both of Richmond, KY, one step-daughter; Jennifer Pruitt King, one step-son; John Christopher Pruitt (Shaunna) both of Stanford, KY, two brothers; Julian King and David King both of Oklahoma, four sisters; Cynthia King, Susie Muse (Bruce), Margaret Adams (Ron), and Reba King (Dale) all of Stanford, KY, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother; Aaron King and one grandson; Josh Adkins.
Services are pending at this time.
Johnny French, 63, of Irvine, passed away Friday at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, after a long illness. Mr. French was born in Richmond on August 31st, 1953, a son of the late Roy and Angela Garland French.
He worked in the construction industry, and attended the Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was very outgoing, enjoyed helping people, and was a very unselfish person.
He was preceded in death by two sons Jonathan Craig French and John Christopher French.
Survivors include his son Joshua French; his brothers Roy Glenn French, David Carl French; and his sister Deborah Jean McKinney.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 27th, at the Gray Cemetery on Tipton Ridge.
Bonnie C. Murphy
Bonnie C. Murphy, age 76, of Cedar Grove Road in Irvine passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at the Central Baptist Hospital following a long illness. He was born September 10, 1940 in Estill County and was the son of the late Lonnie B. and Hazel Vivian Isaacs Murphy.
He was a retired gravedigger and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
He is survived by His wife Betty Jean Barnett Murphy, 1 Daughter Jacqueline Renee Murphy of Lexington, 5 Sisters: Ima Ward of Virginia, Mary Wilcox of Louisville, Beulah Ladd, Margie Barker both of Lexington, Mildred Miller of Estill Co., 2 Brothers Everett Murphy of Madison Co., Tony Murphy of Estill Co., 1 Grandchild Brittany Dawn Murphy and 1 Great-Grandchild Rylie Jade Tester.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Edra Eckler and Eula Gardner and 1 brother, Donald Murphy.

Elizabeth Carol Crowe
Elizabeth Carol Fielder Crowe, age 67, of Elm Street in Ravenna, passed away Monday, December 19th, at the Irvine Health and Rehabilitation Center following a long illness. She was born May 2, 1949, in Estill County, a daughter of the late James and Callie Case Fielder.
She retired from the Estill County School System where she was a school cook and had lived in Estill County all of her life. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Christian Church.
She is survived by Her Husband: Walter Danny Crowe, 2 Daughters: Dana Murphy (Tony) of Ravenna, Karen Lewis (Derek) of Morehead, 5 Sisters: Emma Tipton, Mary Powell, Geraldine Crowe, Delorse Arthur and Diane Willis all of Irvine, 2 Brothers: James Fielder of Richmond, Darrell Fielder of Irvine and 1 Grandchild: Christian Freeman.
She was preceded in death by a Brother, J.W. Fielder.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday 1 PM at the Mt. Carmel Christian Church by Bro. Mark Pearson with burial to follow in the Crowe Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home and after 11 AM Thursday at the church.

Joshua David Rawlins
Joshua David Rawlins, age 36, of Ida Grace Road in Irvine passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center following a long illness. He was born December 13, 1980 in Madison County and was the son of Gene David Rawlins and Delores Smith Rawlins.
He had lived in Estill County all of his life.
Survivors in addition to his father and mother include 1 Son Joshua Chase Rawlins of Estill Co., 1 Daughter: McKinlee Dawn Rawlins of Powell Co., His Grandmother: Gladys Smith of Estill Co.
2 Step-sisters: Miranda Conrad & Rita Watts, Aunts & Uncles: Brenda & Arthur Smith, Michael & Teddie Smith, Billy & Richelle Smith and Several Cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Billy Gene Smith.
