Carrie Frances Calico Baker Lewey, age 88, died peacefully Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at The Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Garrard County she was born to the late Everett & Cora Wells Calico.
Mrs. Lewey was a member of the Berea Baptist Church where she was very active in the Sunshine Sunday School Class and later the Dixie Sunshine class, she also loved the ladies circle of Berea Baptist. After retiring from Berea College and Fireside Galleries she enjoyed traveling, her favorite trip was in 1996 when she visited 22 states on one excursion.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Warren G. Baker in 1974 and Rayborn A. Lewey in 2007. A son, Ronald Gene Baker, a brother, Wesley Wayne Calico also preceded her.
Mrs. Lewey is survived by; her children, Roger (Sandy) Baker of Vero Beach, FL., Pamela Baker Lillis of Richmond, KY., and Penni (David) Baker Neikirk of Berea, KY., a sister, Norma (Lee) Calico Foster of Nevada, and uncle, Denny (Janetta) Calico of Cincinnati, OH., her grandchildren, Roger W. Baker, Carrie (John)Devin, Patrick (Karen) Baker, Paul (Amanda) Baker and Zachary (Jenna) Neikirk, one great granddaughter and six great grandsons.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Berea Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Slemp officiating. Burial will follow in the Robinson Cemetery in Garrard County. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-8 pm at the church. Davis & Powell Funeral Home in Charge of Arrangements.
Pallbearers will be, Roger W. Baker, Patrick R. Baker, Paul Baker, Zachary Neikirk, Chase Mullins, David Neikirk and John Devin.
