Public Protection Cabinet (PPC) Secretary David A. Dickerson has named Paul Joseph Vido as the director of the Division of Enforcement at the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC).

Vido was the Special Agent in Charge at the Louisville Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) from 2006 until his retirement in 2012. He administered all ATF investigations and regulatory operations in Kentucky, West Virginia and Southern Indiana.

Prior to his Louisville assignment, Vido was Special Agent in Charge for Northern California, including San Francisco and the state of Nevada. His local, state and federal service includes working in Crown Point, Indiana, Springfield, Illinois and Washington, DC.

“Vido brings a lifetime of experience in the enforcement of alcohol and tobacco laws,” said Secretary Dickerson. “His experience, leadership and supervisory skills make him exceptionally qualified for this position.”

“I want to thank the secretary for the confidence he’s showing in me by offering me this opportunity to serve,” added Vido. “The director of enforcement plays a key role in keeping alcohol and tobacco products out of the hands of our children and teenagers. I want to make sure ABC enforcement focuses all its efforts on the priorities designated to the agency by statute.”

Vido studied public administration in the master’s program at Governors State College in Governor’s Park, Illinois and earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice at St. Joseph’s Calumet College in Whiting, Indiana.

Vido replaces Ed Robinson who retired earlier this year. Vido resides in Louisville; his appointment is effective today.
