Stephanie A. Chasteen
Stephanie A. Chasteen age 47, died suddenly Feb. 18, 2016 at St Joseph Hospital in Berea. Stephanie was born in Rockcastle County to the late Bruce Chasteen and Ruth VanWinkle.
Stephanie had been the manager for many years at the Glades Village Apartments.
Stephanie is survived by her children Krista (Martin) Ledesma, Matthew Turner, and step son Austin Teabo, and her siblings Robert Chasteen, Bill (Marilyn) Chasteen, Darryl Chasteen, and Lisa (Don) Foster, and her grandchildren: Colby and Caleb Ledesma.
Funeral services will be Tuesday Feb. 23, 2016 at 11 am at Lakes Funeral Home Berea, burial will be in the Chasteen Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6-9 pm at the Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Turner, Austin Teabo, Robert Chasteen, Bill Chasteen, Devan Roy, and Christian Ritchey.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to help with funeral expenses.
Lloyd L. Anglin
Rev. Lloyd L. Anglin of Berea, Kentucky passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016. Lloyd was born June 28, 1923 in Three Links, Rockcastle County to Abraham Lee and Pearly Mae Peters Anglin.
He was a Seaman First Class in the US Navy from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. After returning home from the war, Lloyd married his lifelong sweetheart Johnnie Leona Lovvorn on February 2, 1946.
After the war, Lloyd worked at the Blue Grass Army Depot Ordinance as a supervisor of Post Engineers until retiring in 1978. Following his retirement from the Blue Grass Army Depot, he served as a minister at Waneta Church of God in Jackson County for ten years. Following his time as minister, he returned to Berea Church of God, his home church. There he accepted the role of Sunday School teacher for the Senior Adult class. Lloyd’s final Sunday School lesson was the Sunday before he passed.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 70 years, Johnnie Anglin; daughter Anita Lynn and her husband Roger Kelley; son-in-law Rick Thompson; daughter Malta and her husband Raymond Flannery; grandchildren Roger Keith Kelley II; Beth and her husband Phillip Nowlin; Laura Rae and her husband Aaron Coffey; Jeremy and his wife Jennifer Thompson; Michael and his wife Jennifer Flannery; Zachery Thompson; great grandchildren Abbygail Broughton; Tristyn Nowlin; Asher and Annaston Coffey; Gavin and Clara Flannery; step great grandchildren Lindsey Hoskins; Joshua Hoskins; grandson-in-law Ken Hoskins, close family friends Mark Hugely and Jordan Neel and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his father Abraham Lee Anglin; mother Pearly Mae Peters; brothers Albert Anglin; Lester Anglin; Luther Anglin; Arthur Anglin; sisters Edith Anglin and Lucille Owens; son Abraham Lloyd Anglin; daughter Nora Anglin Thompson and granddaughter Lavina Kelley Hoskins.
Services will be held at Berea Church of God. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 17, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m., burial to follow services at Madison Memorial Gardens. Lakes Funeral Home Berea is in charge of arrangements.

Billy Whittemore, age 55, died Friday, February 12, 2016 at Baptist Health in Richmond. A native of Berea, he was the son of the late Alson and Betty Logston Whittemore.
He loved to collect keys and key chains, Hershey bars, and chocolate covered cherries.
Billy is survived by his siblings, Danny (Sandy) Whittemore of Berea, Bonnie (Tom) McCay of Berea, Marsha (Jimmy) Tate of Versailles, and Teresa (Jimmy) Bratcher of Salvisa. Sister-in-law, LaRaine Whittemore of Berea. 4 nieces, 3 nephews and the staff and caregivers at Nathanial House also survive. He was preceded in death by a brother Gary Steven Whittemore.
Funeral services for Billy Whittemore will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Davis & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Silver Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services.
Pallbearers will be Ashley McCay, Shane Whittemore, Nathan Gaddis, Brandon Roark, Sandye Kidd, Dawne Deboard. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff at Nathaniel House, and special friends Gina Gregory and Dave Shelton.

Fay Arvin Broughton, 90, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center of Richmond.

Frankie Milton Foster
Frankie Milton Foster, 89, of Richmond, passed away early Saturday, February 20, 2016 at his home. Frankie was born November 7, 1926, in Madison County, to John and Mary Elizabeth Riddell.
He was a retired explosive specialist for the Bluegrass Army Depot and an Army veteran of WW II.
Survivors include his wife, Frances J. Foster of Richmond; four daughters, Diane (Jerry) Doty, of Belivar, MO, Deborah (Don) Ward, of Jacksonville, FL, Donna Love, of Charlotte, NC and Rebecca (Mike) Terrill, of Zephyrhills, FL; two step-daughters, Christiana L. Hubbuch (Justin)and Billy-Anna Collier (Benjamin); one sister, Evelena Masters of Richmond; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services for Frankie Foster will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 22, 2016 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Cecil Burns officiating. Burial will follow at Flatwoods Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
Eligha Wayne Roe
Eligha Wayne Roe, 66, of Richmond, passed away Friday, February 19, 2016 at his home. He was born August 22, 1949, in Madison County, to Frank and Annabell Ramsey Roe, both of whom preceded him in death.
Eligha was a retired Maintenance employee for the City of Richmond and a Marine Corps. Veteran of the Vietnam Era. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed visiting Holiness churches with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Marsha Sue (Marshall) Roe of Richmond; two step-daughters, Peggy Roe (Ricky) of Richmond, and Carolyn Hall (George, Jr.) of Jessamine County; one son, Wayne Roe of Colorado; three step-sons, Scottie Wilburn, Colen Wilburn (Jennifer) and Robert Wilburn, Jr (Amanda), all of Richmond; 12 grandchildren, Ashley Powell, Crystal Scott, Sarah Hall, Kyleigh Wilburn, Kayla Roe, Korina Roe, Shannon Wilson Hall, Tyler Wilburn, Wayne Roe II, Frankie Roe, Stevie Roe and Tommy Roe, and several great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Anthony “Tony” Roe and a brother, Billy Roe.
Services will be at 8:00 PM Sunday at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with Bro. George Hall Jr. and Bro. David Evans officiating. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
Buddie Farris Jr.
Buddie Farris Jr., 68, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday February 16, 2016, after arrival at Baptist Health – Richmond. He was born December 10, 1947, in Richmond, Kentucky to Buddie B. Farris and Nannette Martin Farris Huguely, both of whom preceded him in death.
Buddie was a former truck driver for Pepsi and Coca-Cola bottling companies and a retired employee of Bluegrass Plating. He was a talented musician and vocalist, who played the drums and sang for his church, The Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, Inc., as well as for the Kentucky Harmonizers, a Gospel singing group, of which he was a member.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sarah (Kelson) Farris of Richmond; one daughter, Dorcas Crenshaw (Darnell) of Lexington; one son, Micah I. Farris of Richmond; three sisters, Elsie Marie Pollard (James) of Indianapolis, IN, Dorothy E. Arthur (Alva) of Richmond, and Angelina Huguely of Richmond; one brother, Ezra Floyd Farris of Richmond; two grandchildren, Demetrius Lee Farris and Danielle Elizabeth Crenshaw; an aunt, Anna Mae Covington of Richmond, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Elizabeth Farris, one brother, Hosea Farris, and step-father, Curtis Huguely.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at The Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, Inc, on the corner of Oakland Avenue and Linden Street. Burial will follow at Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until service time on Tuesday at the church.

Peggy A. Brandenburg
Peggy A. Brandenburg, 66, wife of Fred Brandenburg, passed away Tuesday morning, February 16, 2016, at the Compassionate Care Center. Peggy was born on May 30, 1949 in Madison County.
She was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University where she earned a degree in education and was a retired teacher at Waco Elementary School. She was a member of the Madison County Retired Teachers Association, a contributing correspondent for the Richmond Register and was a Past President of the Flatwoods Cemetery Association. She was a member of The Linden Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; Fred C. Brandenburg; one son: Eric C. Brandenburg (Deana); her stepmother: Betty Willis Anglin; three grandchildren: Joshua Scott Brandenburg (Kayla), Jessica Paige Brandenburg and Chandler Trey Brandenburg; one great-grandchild: Temperance Hope Renae Brandenburg; five sisters: Judy Taylor, Ronda Hendren, Barbara Lynn Stamper, Gail Hurt and Janice Leonard; six brothers: David Anglin, Jimmy Anglin, William L. Brown, Glenn Brown Darrell Brown and Jerry Brown and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son: Joseph S. Brandenburg; her father: James Ronald Anglin and her mother: Martha Smith Anglin Brown.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Lawson, Bro. Gene Smith and Bro. Bill Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the Flatwoods Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

Roger K. Thurman
Roger K. Thurman, 69, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Baptist Health – Richmond after a long illness.
Mr. Thurman retired from the USPS and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a life time member of the VFW and VVA and also served in the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his father Dr. Howard Kelly Thurman, former Dean of English at EKU; his mother: Mrs. Mary John Rodgers Thurman, EKU Librarian and his brother: Richard Thurman.
Mr. Thurman is survived by his niece, Diana Thurman (Kevin Maranowski) of Louisville, CO; his nephew: Alex (Elyssa) Thurman of Brooklyn, NY; great niece: Katie Maranowski; great nephew: Evan Thurman and his long time companion and best friend: Anita Begley.
At Mr. Thurman’s request, there will be no funeral services. A private burial will take place at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Margaret Deatherage Elam, 95, of Richmond, passed away Wednesday, February 17th, 2016 at The Terrace, in Berea. Mrs. Elam was born in Madison County on October 30, 1918 to the late McCord and Lucy Million Deatherage.
She worked for Westinghouse in Richmond, enjoyed visiting and caring for friends and relatives, and traveling.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Keith of Edwardsville, IL; her sons, Steven (Eva) Elam of Paris, KY and Richard (Becky) Elam of Richmond; three granddaughters, 7 grandsons, several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Elam is preceded in death by her husband, Drexel Elam and one brother, Owen Deatherage.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 27th, 2016 at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Curtis Christian officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 AM until time of service. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Mrs. Elam’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Elizabeth Ann “Cindy” Rhodus Florence, 58, passed away unexpectedly on February 16th, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lexington, KY. She was born on February 22nd, 1957 in Richmond, KY.
She was preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Ella Roberts Rhodus.
She is survived by her son, Jonathan (Nicole) Florence of Versailles, KY; her brother, James Rhodus of Bybee, KY; her sister Priscilla (Jackie) Runyon of Little Hocking, OH; 2 grandchildren, Osiana and Elana; one uncle, John (Beth) Roberts of Lexington, KY; 2 aunts, Linda A. Selby of California, and Edna Marshall of Arizona; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She graduated from Madison Central High School in Richmond in 1975. She attended Kentucky Business College in Lexington, KY. She worked for Fayette County Schools as a cook and Good Samaritan Hospital in Housekeeping. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going out with her cousin, Mary. She made friends easily and had many. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A gathering of friends will be conducted Saturday, February 20th, 2016 at Heritage Funeral Home beginning at 4:00 PM with a Celebration of Life ceremony to follow at 5:00 PM. Friends may call from 4:00 PM until time of service.
Mrs. Edwina North, 59 of Berea, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016 at her home. She was born in Madison County, KY on Aug. 1, 1956 the daughter of Edward Otto and Ada Lucille Smith Halcomb.
She was a retired sales clerk for Howard Curry Shoes and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Berea. She was an avid UK Basketball fan.
She is survived by her husband, Lewis Sears; her daughter Kelly North of Lexington; her mother, Ada Lucille Halcomb of Berea; and two sisters, Norma Halcomb Proctor and Janet Halcomb Grider, both of Berea.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Otto Halcomb; and her grandmother, Paralee Baker.
No Visitation is scheduled. Funeral service will be private. Interment will be at Somerset City Cemetery.

Boyd Wayne Mullins
Mr. Boyd Wayne Mullins, 76 of Livingston, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2016 at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington. He was born at Sand Springs in Rockcastle County, KY on Aug. 11, 1939 the son of George and Dollie Pittman Mullins.
He was a farmer and was a deacon at Maple Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed working around his church and going to auctions.
He is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Bonnie Bullock Mullins; two sons, Randy Mullins and wife, Tressa of Richmond, and Ronald Mullins and wife, Vicky of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Kathy Powell and husband, Eddy of Livingston; two brothers, Burgess Mullins and wife, Betty and Logan Mullins, both of Mt. Vernon; and a sister, Bernice Beasley and husband, Roy of Brodhead. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Stacy Mullins, Clayton Powell and wife Melissa, Tina McGuire and husband Stoney, Amy Wyatt and husband Quenton, Matthew Mullins and wife Sherry, Casey Powell and wife Karen, and Ashley Vetter and husband Jeremy; and 18 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Mullins and Junior Mullins; three sisters, Sadie Sowder, Flora Kirby, and Faye Kirby; and two infant sisters, Doris and Cindy.
Visitation was held at 6 PM Thursday, Feb. 18 at Maple Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral service was held at 1 PM Friday, Feb. 19 at Maple Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Interment followed at the Bullock Cemetery. Dowell & Martin Funeral home handled the arrangements.
Stella Mae Aker
Mrs. Stella Mae Aker, age 91 of Brodhead, passed away Wed. February 17, 2016 at Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Ky. She was born on September 1, 1924 in Copper Creek, Ky., a daughter of the late Joe and Minnie Pingleton Ingle.
Stella was a member of Union Chapel Pentecostal Church and found great joy in quilting, cooking, gardening and flowers.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. On Feb. 27, 1946 she was united in marriage to Dewey J. Saylor, who preceded her in death, and from that union came three sons, Larry, Kevin & Donnie. In August 1966 she was united in marriage to Richard Aker and from that union came a daughter, Stella.
Those left to celebrate her life: her children, Larry E. Saylor and wife Carol of Atlanta, Georgia, Kevin R. Saylor of Brodhead, Ky. and Stella Marie Newcomb of Brodhead, Ky. Nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren. Her brother: Charles Ingles of Richmond, Ky.; her sister: Gertrude “Gertie” Lewis of Waco, Ky.; as well as a host of nieces/nephews, friends and neighbors.
Besides her first husband, Dewey E. Saylor, second husband Richard Aker, and parents, she was preceded in death by a son: Donnie Saylor, by a sister: Irene “Ruby” Hounshell and son-in-law Larry Newcomb.
Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016 from 6-9PM at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Feb. 19, 2016 at 1PM at the Funeral home with Bro. Donald Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Saylor Cemetery.
Arvil Glen Smith
Arvil Glen Smith, 79 husband of Barbara Ann Pingleton Smith, died Monday, February 15, 2016 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, KY. He was born Jan. 27, 1937 in the community of Boomer located in Rockcastle County, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Bill and Myrtle Poynter Smith.
He was a member of Watts Chapel Baptist Church. He was a farmer and the most wonderful husband, dad and papaw.

Gwendolyn Osborne, 59, of Lancaster, passed away Wednesday February 17, 2016 at her home. She is survived by her loving husband, Larry. Gwen was born on May 1, 1956 in Lexington KY to parents William “Billy” Eldridge and Della Tudor Moses.
She was an LPN for Nurses Registry and had worked in healthcare for over twenty years.
Gwen enjoyed hummingbirds, sitting on her swing on the back deck watching sunrises and taking boat rides down Wood Creek. Above all else, her family was most important in her life. She attended St. William Catholic Church.
Surviving are three sons: Victor Hudson(Amy) of Berea, Stephen Hudson of Lancaster, and Brian Kuhn(Crystal) of Nicholasville; two daughters: Kristina Kuhn(Matthew) of Lexington, and Tamarah Kuhn(John) of Lancaster; one brother: Ronnie Lawson of Nicholasville; two sisters: Faith Stout(John) and Faye Spears both of Lancaster.
Seventeen grandchildren: McKenzie Kuhn, Lucas Shoemaker, Patrick Lewis, Tyler Kuhn, Zachary Kuhn, Madison Kuhn, Bella Bieger, Eli Kuhn, Annalee Cornett, Eric Jackson, Dashawina Jackson, Christopher Hudson, Mathew Hudson, Aaron Hudson, Josh Donkin, Ryan Donkin, and Seth Donkin. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews.
Gwen was preceded in death by a brother Billy Dale Eldridge.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday February 20, 2016 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Peter Joseph officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 PM until the service.
Derrick Thomas Grace
Derrick Thomas Grace, age 23, of Villa Drive in Richmond passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016, at his home. He was born June 2, 1992 in Mt. Sterling and was the son of Rex Carlos Grace and Lisa Combs Grace.
He had lived in Estill County most of his life.
Survivors in addition to his father and mother include His wife Ashley Jones Grace, 1 Son Derrick Thomas Grace Jr. of Richmond. 2 Brothers Rex Carlos Grace II of Estill Co., Dylan Timmy Grace of Clay Co.
He was preceded in death by 1 sister, Heather Renee Grace and his grandparents; Edna Wooten Grace, Ezekial Grace, Julia Combs and Grant Combs.

Felicia Lynn Isaacs
Felicia Lynn (Hatton) Isaacs was born July 24, 1977 in Richmond, and departed this life Friday, February 19, 2016 at U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, being 38 years of age. She was the daughter of Larry Hatton of McKee and Hadie Mae (Stamper) Hatton of McKee.
In addition to her parents, Felicia is also survived by her husband, Robert Isaacs of McKee; by one daughter, MaKayla Pennington of Gray Hawk and by four siblings, Tommy Rowland and wife Jennifer of Gray Hawk, Larry Joe Hatton of Kingston, Angela Hatton of Richmond and Donnie Murrell of Vincent.
Felicia was of the Baptist Faith.
