Vandalism/Assault Charges: On 07/02/2015, police charged Markieth M. Christopher, age 24, Geri Lane, for assaulting a female and damaging her vehicle in June 2015.

On 06/10/2015, a female acquaintance of Christopher reported that she was at Christopher’s apartment when the two became involved in an argument. It was reported that Christopher choked the victim to the point that she nearly passed out. The victim fled Christopher’s residence and returned to her own home. A short time later, Christopher arrived at the victim’s residence and was denied entry. He then “keyed” her vehicle on both sides and etched a derogatory remark into the trunk lid. Christopher then fled the scene. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $2500.00.

On 06/11/2015, a warrant was issued for Christopher’s arrest, charging him for Assault 4th Degree and Criminal Mischief 1st Degree (felony).

On 07/02/2015, Christopher was taken into custody at his residence without incident and lodged in the MCDC.

Theft by Deception: On 06/30/2015, an employee of Belk reported a scam that had been perpetrated on the store.

On 06/08/2015, a female entered the Belk store at Richmond Centre and returned an Eileen Fisher jacket. The female was given an in-store credit for the returned with which the female purchased approximately $265.00 worth of merchandise and departed. It was later determined that the jacket was not an Eileen Fisher jacket and that the Fisher label had been sewn into a less valuable jacket and passed as a Fisher jacket. In addition, the items purchased with the in-store credit were later returned at another Belk store for cash.

The suspect was identified as a black female, approximately 5’7”, 230 pounds, about 50 years old, possibly driving a newer silver colored Chrysler 300 with 20” rims and Alabama registration. The suspect has reportedly been operating in several southern states.
