Richmond Police Report June 17, 2015


Burglary Arrests: On 06/15/2015, police charged Jonathan K. Witt, age 29, and Veronica A. Witt, age 28, Jessica Circle, in connection with the unlawful entry into a residence.

At approximately 9:50 A.M., officers were dispatched to a possible burglary in progress in the 400 block of W. Walnut Street. Upon arrival, an officer observed J. Witt exiting a side door of the residence. Upon seeing the officer, J. Witt went back into the house. He then attempted to flee through a rear bedroom window where he was apprehended. A pocket knife, wrist watch, and three cans of smokeless tobacco were recovered from his person, all of which were deemed to have been stolen from the residence. V. Witt was detained inside the house as well. An examination of the scene revealed that the two had gathered several items of property inside the house for removal before being interrupted by police. The resident of the home was contacted and confirmed that the two were unlawfully in his residence. It was determined that entry was gained through a bathroom window.

Both parties were charged for Burglary 2nd Degree and lodged in the MCDC. A bench warrant from the Madison District Court for Failure to Appear was also served on J. Witt.


RSP Arrest: On 06/15/2015, police charged Heather A. Owens, age 24, McKee, KY, for being in possession of a stolen utility trailer.

On 05/18/2015, a complainant reported that reported that a white, 8-foot Ford pickup truck bed converted into a trailer, with a white camper top, had been stolen from the rear of a residence in the 100 block of E Street during the overnight hours. The single axle trailer had blue tool boxes on both sides and chrome and black wheels.
The stolen item was valued at $3500.00.

During the course of the follow-up investigation, the responding officer developed information that a truck owned by Owens had been hauling the stolen trailer.

On 06/15/2015, the truck was located on Keri Ann Drive and Owens was interviewed regarding the trailer. Following the interview, she was charged for Receiving Stolen Property $500 to $10,000 and lodged in the MCDC.

The stolen trailer has not been recovered.
