Richmond Police Report Jan. 26, 2015

Assault/Tampering Charges: On 01/23/2015, police charged Jonathan C. Shearer, age 23, Lexington, for numerous offenses following a traffic stop.

At approximately 9:32 A.M., officers were alerted to a possible drunk driver by a deputy jailer at the MCDC. Officers located and stopped the vehicle on Kim Kent Drive and identified the driver as Shearer. Upon making contact with Shearer, officers suspected that he was intoxicated and directed him to exit the vehicle. Shearer refused to exit and grabbed three small balloons that were concealed on his front seat and proceeded to swallow them. Officers had to forcibly remove Shearer from the vehicle as he continued to resist arrest.

After being removed from the vehicle, Shearer was transported to Baptist Health for treatment, which he refused. He was then lodged in the MCDC, charged for the following offenses:

– D.U.I.
– No Operator’s License in Possession
– Assault 3rd Degree
– Disorderly Conduct
– Resisting Arrest
– Tampering with Physical Evidence

Forgery Charges: On 01/23/2015, police arrested Cassie K. Baer, age 29, Big Hill Avenue, in connection with the passing of stolen and forged checks.

On 01/12/2015, a complainant reported that several checks had been stolen from his checkbook. It was subsequently determined that three of the stolen checks had been forged and cashed at a local bank. The three checks totaled $360.00. Baer was identified as a suspect in the passing of the checks and it was determined that she had been in possession of all three prior to the time that they were passed at the bank.

On 01/23/2015, Baer was located at Day’s Inn and taken into custody without incident. She was charged for Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree (3 counts) and lodged in the MCDC.

Wanton Endangerment Charge: On 01/20/2015, police charged Jim J. Causey, age 55, Winchester, for several offenses later he crashed his vehicle into a residence.

At approximately 7:28 P.M., officers were dispatched to a residence in Dixie Plaza MHP to investigate a report that a vehicle had collided with a mobile home in the park and fled the scene. Upon arrival, the officer located the suspect vehicle still in the park and identified Causey as the driver. The officer determined that Causey was intoxicated and took him into custody.

It was subsequently determined that the vehicle being operated by Causey had struck a mobile home in the park causing extensive damage. There were five persons inside the residence at the time of the collision, none of which suffered any injuries requiring treatment at the scene. Several items of property inside the residence were damaged as well. Richmond Codes Enforcement officers determined that the residence was no longer inhabitable due to the damage.

Causey was lodged in the MCDC, charged for the following offenses:

– D.U.I.
– No Operator’s License
– No Vehicle Insurance
– Leaving Scene of an Accident
– Resisting Arrest
– Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree
– Criminal Mischief 1st Degree
