On Saturday, Nov. 8th at 1 PM Kentucky author Eddie Price will present a program on his historical novel, Widder’s Landing, at the Madison County Public Library in Berea. The program is free and open to the public. This will be a Kentucky Humanities Council Speakers Bureau-sponsored program on “Writing, Publishing & Marketing.”
Eddie Price is a retired Social Studies teacher from Hancock County, Kentucky. He taught at Hancock County High School for 31 years and night classes at Owensboro Community College for 21 years. His novel, Widder’s Landing, has won numerous awards and accolades, and was recently included in the 2014 Kentucky State Fair Special Exhibition Bibliography. It is endorsed by the Kentucky Department of Libraries & Archives, Kentucky Historical Society and the Kentucky Humanities Council. Eddie’s historical programs are popular with schools, colleges and universities, historical and genealogical societies, libraries, museums, reenactment groups, pioneer villages, state parks, etc. He usually presents in costume and brings along educational powerpoint slide shows and period music to involve the audience.
On Saturday he will talk about Widder’s Landing”and present a program for aspiring writers. Numerous colleges and universities began asking for readings and an “author presentation” on how he wrote the book, how he approached literary agents and publishers–and how he managed to get the book published. In response to this demand, he has developed a highly inspirational program that also includes the “changing world of publishing” and ways to develop a marketing plan (an essential component of the query letter.) He has presented programs all across Kentucky and in states from Missouri to West Virginia and Michigan to Florida. Last year he presented the writing program at the 2013 Readers Favorite Awards in Miami, Florida (when the novel won the Gold Medal for “Best Historical Fiction”) and he has been invited back this November to present to new award winners. Widder’s Landing is now in a 4th Printing at Acclaim Press.
