Modern Systems’ president, David Morris, was recognized for his contribution to Kentucky schools by Honeywell at Connect 2013. Modern Systems was one in about 20 companies in the U.S. and South America to be recognized for their community service efforts. Modern Systems was the overall recipient of the 2013 Special Community Service Award in recognition of outstanding efforts to protect children and schools through the Operation Security Blanket (OSB) program.
Operation Security Blanket was established in January of 2012 in response to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. OSB provides over 30 Kentucky schools with panic alarm buttons with mass notification at no cost directly or indirectly to the schools. The panic buttons allow for quicker response time by authorities, and the ability for faculty and staff to alert authorities in situations in which they otherwise may not be able to. In the event that the button is pressed, the authorities are contacted and a mass email/text is sent to faculty and staff alerting them of the situation. The OSB program offers the panic buttons with mass notification to other area schools at an affordable cost.
Several employees of Modern Systems attended Connect 2013 in Los Angeles, California. Connect 2013 provides authorized Honeywell dealers with a platform to learn first-hand about new technologies relevant to the security and automation industry.
