In Response to the Article Condemning the KFCR’s

In response to the article condemning the KFCR’s action at the State Central Committee meeting, I would like to add the following:

A unanimous vote was held during a meeting and every single individual in attendance voted for the resolution. The Berea CRs were invited to attend and did not inform us of their absence until the week before the retreat, contrary to the statement made in the press release. Not only were the Berea CRs invited to attend the meeting, but they were also invited to take part in the KFCR conference calls prior to the meeting, but failed to meet the appropriate deadlines for the constitutional changes and neglected to voice any opposition.

  1. I am the Chairman on the Berea College Republicans and this response to our press release is full of lies by the chairman of the Kentucky Federation of College Republicans, Wesley Scott, who authored this. Had Mr. Scott actually read our press release he would have seen that we never said anything about when we provided notice that we had prior obligation. What we talked about as being two months before was our sentiment that the KFCR should not endorse in primaries. We were on the conference call prior to the meeting and an endorsement was never discussed as he alluded to in his response. He also makes the claim that we failed to meet any deadlines about amending the Constitution. There are no deadlines to amend the Constitution as I explained to Mr. Scott tonight after he attacked the Berea College Republicans openly on Twitter and attacked me personally as chair. He later apologized for and deleted those remarks and said they were, “childish”. I would encourage the chairman to not try and misconstrue what we said as he obviously did above and answer the point of our press release which was to ask them to quit their division of the party and rescind their endorsement of Mitch McConnell.
