House Speaker Greg Stumbo is formally requesting that tomorrow’s LRC meeting be open to the public.
In a letter to Senate President Robert Stivers, Speaker Stumbo wrote: “As you know, I have already publicly released documents showing our efforts to ensure prompt and professional investigation of all harassment claims. I believe the public has a fundamental right to know these facts, and have convened a House Select Committee to ensure this will occur.”
Speaker Stumbo cautioned that LRC members should be prepared to be called as witnesses in any future litigation if they decide to meet in closed session. Speaker Stumbo also urged that the proceeding be recorded, to ensure an accurate record of what was said in any closed session.
The LRC meeting is scheduled for tomorrow at 10 a.m. in Room 125 of the Capitol Annex.
