Spirit of 1812 Award

Michigan State Society Daughters of 1812 participated in festivities for the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of the River Raisin at Monroe, MI.

This year, a Spirit of 1812 Award was presented by our State President Patrice DeHaan to author Eddie Price. Mr. Price’s book “Widder’s Landing”, is a story about life, love and survival in the rugged Kentucky frontier during the War of 1812 time period.

Mr. Price’s presentation about his book “Widder’s Landing”, was given at the River Raisin Battlefield Visitor Center as part of the 200th Anniversary celebration.

Eddie Price is a lifelong native of Kentucky and a graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan College and Western Ken-tucky University. He taught High School History for 36 years and has received many teaching awards.
