Local hospitals will conduct an “emergency” exercise on June 6th. For this to be successful, they need volunteer “patients.” The volunteers they can usually count on cannot participate. If you or your group can help, it will be greatly appreciated. Certificates of participation can be provided to those interested in documenting community service hours.
The mini hospital exercise will take place on Wednesday, June 6th. All volunteers would need to meet no later than 0800 at the Madison County Emergency Operations Center at 560 S. Keeneland Drive in Richmond. Jennifer Hitch will be the point of contact person.
After arriving, the volunteers will be briefed on the roles that they will be acting out for the exercise. Some will be sent to Pattie A. Clay as ‘patients’ and other will be sent to St. Joseph Berea. The exercise is scheduled to start at each hospital at approximately 0900 and should last about 2 hours.
Important information for each volunteer:
Wear either shorts and a t-shirt or a swim suit under your clothes (decontaminated persons will get wet) so please bring dry clothes and shoes. Remove or leave all personal items in the vehicle (cell phones, jewelry, etc.
