Kevin Thomas Hill
Kevin Thomas Hill, 35, of Elm Street, Richmond, passed away Monday, January 30, 2012. He was born in Richmond, Kentucky on July 17, 1976, and had been an employee of Steak & Shake Restaurant for several years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Nathan Hill and is survived by his mother Emma Williams Hill; four sisters, Denise McPherson (David), Jacqueline Williams, Eugina Hill (C J Jennings) and Jana Wilson (Nick Price); four brothers, Thomas Norris, Michael Williams (Angie) Paul C. Williams (Jennifer) and James Frederick Hill (Mary Ann); as well as, several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2012, at Oldham, Robets & Powell Funeral Home, with Rev. David McPherson. Visiation will be from 11 a.m. until service time. Private burial will be at a later date.

Eva Marie Ambrose
Eva Marie Ambrose, age 82 of Rockcastle County, died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at The Terrace in Berea. She was born in Rockcastle County to the late James Robert and Les Croucher Ambrose. She was a Baptist by faith and a housewife and farmer. Eva loved to garden, raise flowers and quilt.
Eva is survived by: her brothers, Donald and Wayne Ambrose of Mt. Vernon; her sister, Ellen Ambrose of Berea; sister-in-law, Roxie Ambrose of Mt. Vernon; brother-in-law, David Coffey of Berea. 13 nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews and several great great nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by: her brothers, Carlouse and William Ambrose; her sisters, Mary Coffey, Bessie Bargo and Thursie B. Ambrose, and 2 nephews, Jessie and Morris Ambrose. The family would like to give special thanks to Mickey Richardson, Josie Sparks and all the staff at The Terrace as well as Brenda Lasley.
Funeral services for Eva Ambrose will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Scaffold Cane Baptist Church with Rev. Raymond Offutt and Bro. Cecil Burns officiating. Burial will be in the Scaffold Cane Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Davis & Powell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
RICHMOND — George Leroy Baxter, 68, the husband of Martha Crutcher Baxter, of Richmond, died on Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at his home, following a long battle with cancer. George was born in Lawson, Mo., Oct. 25, 1943, and was the son of the late Marvin and Mabel Cook Baxter. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970 and moved to the Richmond area in 1983.
George was an active member of Big Hill Christian Church, Richmond. He had been a construction superintendent for many years with the C&S Carpentry Services and the Wagner Company, and retired from the Bluegrass Army Depot in Richmond.
He was noted for his love of his many friends and neighbors and his willingness to help when needed anywhere.
He is survived by: his wife, Martha Crutcher Baxter, Richmond; adopted son, Jamie Sang Baxter, California; beloved stepsons, James D. Crutcher and wife, Stella, Georgetown, Dan Crutcher and wife, Daphne, of Richmond, Tracy Cole and wife Susan, of Berea, and Chris Witt; and numerous stepgrandchildren. He also is survived by his loving daughter in heart, Jenny Blanton and husband, Patrick Blanton.
Pallbearers will be David Brandenburg, Floyd Turner, Patrick Blanton, Tracy Cole, Cecil Trimble and Rusty Turner. Honorary bearers will be Jerry Royalty and George’s Tuesday and Saturday men’s bible study groups.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at Big Hill Christian Church on Goggins Lane, Richmond. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the church with Pastor Jim Riggs and Pastor Harry Hargis presiding. Private interment will be at a later date in the Richmond Cemetery.

BEREA — Lucy Bailey, 96, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012. She was born in Roanoake, Va., on July 26, 1915, to Marion Henry and Eliza Couch Bailey. She was a member of the Berea Church of Christ and a homemaker who enjoyed art especially drawing dogwoods, red birds and bluebirds. Bailey also liked gardening, taking part in the Disabled Veteran’s Association and was an excellent seamstress having made many clothes, costumes and quilts.
She is survived by: two sons, Kenneth Ashley (Carolyn) of Berea, and Darrell Maggard (Kathy) of Berea; one daughter, Joan Chwiej of Lexington; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one brother, Hewey Bailey (Clara); one sister, Pauline Maggard (Bob); and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: one daughter, Carol Maggard Pearson; and six brothers, Dewey, Stanley, Rudolph, Marion Jr., Burt and Joel Bailey.
Funeral services will conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Moore and Bro. Jack Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2012, at the funeral home and Saturday morning before the service.
Pallbearers will be John Chwiej, Gillis Ashley, James Chwiej, Garren Maggard, Richard Struss and Travis Edwards.
Martha Jane McQueen
Martha Jane McQueen was born April 14, 1935 in Jackson County and departed this life Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at the Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester, being 76 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Noah & Rosa (Sawyer) Pierson. She was preceded in death by two husbands: Elmer Peters and Steve McQueen.
Martha was of the Apostolic Faith and lived for the Lord and her family. She loved gardening and being out in the yard.
Martha is survived by the following children: Alonzo Dace Hayes of Berea; Aretha Huff and her husband Arliss of Berea; Glenda Williams and her husband Steve of McKee; Joanne Robinson of Berea; and Steve McQueen Jr. and his wife Patty of Georgetown. She is also survived by the following grandchildren: Tracy, Michael, Melissa, Matthew & Melissa, Michelle & Eugene, Joshua & Haley, Amber & Brandon. She was known as Granny-Ma to 16 great grandchildren.
Martha loved serving the Lord and singing his praises. She was loved by many and will truly be missed.
Funeral service was held 2:00 PM Sunday, February 5, 2012 at the Lakes Funeral Home McKee with Bro. John Gross officiating. Burial followed in the Pierson Family Cemetery. Pallbearers were Steve McQueen Jr., Arliss Huff, Eugene Huff, Steve Williams, Josh Williams, Michael Hayes, Matthew Hayes and Edgar Turner. Honorary pallbearers were Jason Harold and Dwayne Harris.
