The mission of the Berea Chamber of Commerce is, with integrity, to promote prosperity and enhance the quality of life in the Folk Arts and Crafts Capital of Kentucky by supporting current businesses; encouraging new business development; enhancing communication and collaboration; along with promoting Berea as a place to live and work and the Awards Banquet proves that the Chamber is doing an exceptional job accomplishing these goals.
The Awards Banquet was held Friday, December 9th at the historical Boone Tavern Hotel & Restaurant with a reception in the lobby and Greg Shackelford providing beautiful Christmas music. The banquet began at 7PM in the dining hall with entertainment by Ronnie Parker & Friends.
Bud Montgomery President of the Chamber welcomed everyone and thanked them for their generous donations and involvement in the Chamber throughout this past year, along with reviewing the long list of 2011 Chamber accomplishments. David Rowlette Executive Director introduced the 2011 & 2012 Officers and Board of Directors and thanked the Chamber””s Administrative Assistant Jill Hylton for her dedication and assistance during the past year. Master of Ceremonies Jan Parker presented the awards and intermittently gave out numerous door prizes donated by area businesses throughout the evening.
2011 Award recipients are as follows: Agriculture Award – Tom Hendricks; Educator of the Year Award – Sean Quinlan; Health Care Professional of the Year – Lisa McDermott; Volunteer of the Year – Linda VanWinkle; Business of the Year – Larry Harrison of Peoples Bank of Madison Co.; Small business of the Year – Don & Suzanne Graham owners of Appalachian Arts & Crafts; Woman of the Year Award – Rhonda McIntyre; Man of the Year Award – Greg Gerard; Corporate Partner – St.Joseph Berea; Hall of Fame Award – Greg Powell.
The Berea Chamber of Commerce would like to thank everyone for making 2011 a successfull year.
