Harlan Wayne Aldridge

Wayne Aldridge

Wayne Aldridge age 64 of Cave Springs Road in McKee passed away Friday November 25, 2011 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.

Wayne was born in Madison Co. to the late Ernest and Sophia Gabbard Aldridge. He was retired from CSX railroad and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed farming, spending time with his grandchildren and attending special services at Miracle Revival Church of God in Morrill and Narrow Way Church of God in Big Hill.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one granddaughter Holly Paige Shearer.

He is survived by his wife Joanie Robinson Aldridge, three daughters Jeanna (Darrell) Golden, Sarah (Billy) Shearer and Charity (Bradley) Rose, five siblings Ernest Cole (Betty) Aldridge, Ronald (Pat) Aldridge, Wilma Jean Gay, Joyce (Wayne) Stevenson and Linda Sebastian. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren Jacob Nathanial Wayne Aldridge, Jared Logan James Golden, Joseph Kyler Shearer, Hannah Elizabeth Faith Golden, Benjamin Isaac Kaleb Shearer, Jordan Sophia Rose, Eliana Caroline Faye Shearer, Elijah Cole Rose and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Tuesday November 29, 2011 at Lakes Funeral Home in Berea with Bro. Stanley VanWinkle and Bro. John Gross officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors at the Aldridge Family Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6-9 pm at Lakes Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Stevie Wells, Ronnie Aldridge Jr., Johnny Robinson, Michael Powell, Marvin Powell and B. J. Robinson. Honorary bearers will be his grandsons.

Paul French

Paul French, 78, husband of Ona Francis Robinson French, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.

Paul was the son of the late Sherman & Mary Thomas French and was born in Estill County, Kentucky. He was retired from Eastern Kentucky University where he worked as a plumber for many years. Paul served with distinction in the United States Army during the Korean War where he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star, he also was a member of the Waco Masonic Lodge F&AM #338, he also loved to farm and was always outdoors working on his farm, Paul was a member of the Viney Fork Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ona Francis Robinson French; one son, Mike French of Richmond, KY; two sisters, Opal Chrisman of Estill County and Delina Roop of Richmond, KY; three grandchildren, Kyla Clements, Mark French and Paul French; one great grandchild, Jocelyn Sarah Noella Clements; numerous friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James French and Jennings French and one sister, Mabel Richardson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Robbin Newman Officiating the service. Burial will follow at the Flatwoods Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Richard Robinson, Glenn Richardson, Brian Newman, David Robinson, Danny French, Danny Hunt, Jimmy Chrisman and George P. Smith Jr.

Edward Anglin

Edward Anglin age 67 of Shelley Lane in Paint Lick, passed away suddenly on Friday November 25, 2011.

Edward was born in Madison County to Hazel Evans Anglin and the late Lonnie Anglin. He was a self-employed masonry contractor. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by two children Eddie Anglin and Janet Anglin, four sisters Janet Anglin, Ethel Imogene Anglin, Edna Anglin, Sarah Anglin and one brother Ray Anglin.

He is survived by his daughter Jaime R. Anglin, his companion of many years Joyce Turner, two grandchildren Diane Silva and Dylan Anglin, 6 siblings Beulah Carter, Cecil Anglin, Ruth Anglin, L.D. Anglin, Hershel Anglin and Judy Anglin.

Funeral services will be will be 2 pm Wednesday November 30, 2011 at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Vester Alexander, Bro. Jerry Abner and Bro. Gordon Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pilot Knob Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday after 6 pm at the funeral home and Tuesday beginning at 6pm.

Active pallbearers will be Nelson Anglin, Rocky Anglin, Joshua Anglin, Trinity Anglin, Houston Anglin and Dylan Anglin. Honorary bearers will be Tracey Carter, Dale Carter, Donnie Carter, Carter Mullins and Connor Ingram.

Dorothy H Abner

Dorothy H Abner age 77, widow of Thurman Abner, died Friday Nov. 25, 2011 in Richmond at the Pattie A Clay Regional Medical Center. Dorothy was a homemaker a daughter of the late Nim and Mary Jane Abner, and she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters: Carlos, Herman, Robert, James and Oscar Abner, Ruby Gipson, Virginia Meeks, and Bertie Chaney.

Dorothy is survived by her son Alvin Ray Abney and his wife Shirley of Berea, sisters Delores (Kenny) Roberts, and Doreen Tuttle of Nicholasville, and grandchildren Alvin Ray Abney Jr., and Terri Shepherd, and great grandchildren Brian Shepherd, Kaylin Marcum, and Valerie Marcum all of Berea. She is also survived by her good friend Leon Powell and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Monday at 11 am at Lakes Funeral Home, with burial in the Madison County Memorial Gardens.

Arnold Clay “Bud” Whittaker, 75, of Richmond, IN, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 21, 2011. Born on April 30, 1936 in Madison County, KY, son of the late, Clyde & Dollie (Neikirk) Whittaker. Arnold retired in 1991 after 36 years as a Production Operator & Lab Tech at Indiana American Waterworks in Richmond, IN. He was a member of the Fellowship Church of Richmond.

Survived by his wife: Ailene (VanWinkle) Whittaker; daughter & son-in-law: Teresa & Robert McElhinny of Whidbey Island, WA; sons & daughters-in-law: Byron & Marilyn Whittaker and Steve & Marla Whittaker both of Richmond, IN; sister & brother-in-law: Carrol & Roy Rhodus of Paint Lake, KY; brother & sister-in-law: Wayne Lee & Joann Whittaker of Lexington, KY; grandchildren: Tiffany, Brandon, Tiana, Michael, Jeremy, Megan, and Joshua; great grandchildren: Dakota, Byant, Christian, Nevaeh, and Nate Bob.

Funeral Services will be held 12:00 pm, Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 West Main Street, New Paris, OH with Pastor John Maples officiating. Interment will be held at Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris.

RICHMOND — Kevin Lee Ward, 47, of Union, Ky., formerly of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011, in St. Elizabeth Hospital West in Florence, Ky.

He was born in Tacoma, Wash., on April 29, 1964, the son of the late Jimmy and Sandra Overby Ward. He was a 1982 graduate of Madison Central High School, a graduate of Berea College and a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church.

His survivors include: his wife, Christina Nocera Ward; two sons, Brandon Matthew Ward (Jessica), and Joey Ward; two daughters, Sophia Grace Ward, Gabrielle “Gabby” Elizabeth Ward; three brothers, Michael Rodney Ward (Shirley), John Ward (Melanie) and Jimmy Shane Ward; grandmother, Elizabeth Overby; grandson, Kayleb Jackson Ward; and several aunts and uncles, including: Carolyn Whitaker (Tommy), Harleen Lainhart, Frankie Ray (Peggy), and Amy Ward; and several nieces, nephews and cousins, including a nephew, Ian Ward (Jennifer). He was preceded in death by: infant daughter, Jenni Rebecca Ward; and grandmother, Zella Ward.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2011, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with his brother, the Rev. John Ward, officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be John Mason, Chris Cobb, Brandon Ward, Joey Ward, Rodney Ward, Ian Ward and Jimmy Shane Ward.

Donna Prather

RICHMOND — Donna Haggard Prather, 72, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011. She was born January 23, 1939, in Lincoln County, Ky., the daughter of the late Fred and Myrtle Moore Haggard. She was a graduate of Danville High School. She began her career at Page Manufacturing in Lexington and then later became a self-employed seamstress. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Gilead Baptist Church, where she was a retired Sunday school teacher and pianist.

Survivors include: her husband of 53 years, Glenmore Prather; her daughter, Carolyn Lane and husband Mike; her son, William Prather and his wife Allison; six grandchildren, Christi (Jeff) Wilson, Benjamin Lane, April (Donny) Smith, Madelin Prather, Daniel Prather and Samuel Prather; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wilma Barnett and Vivian Wooldridge; one brother, Clarence Haggard; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Gabbard and the Rev. Larry Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Paul Lane, Jr., Will Sharp, Jeff Wilson, Donny Smith, Ben Lane and Daegan Klein. Honorary pallbearers will be: Gary Parker, Marshall Robinson, Steve Winkler, Tim Humber and Junior Smith.

Paul Rose

Paul Rose 89 went home to be with the Lord on Sunday November 20, 2011 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. He was born February 9th, 1922 to the late Rev. John F. and Ella Amyx Rose. He was a native of Jackson County.

He served 3 years in the Armed Forces serving in the Philippines during World War II. He retired from the Blue Grass Army Depot in 1977. He was a trader at heart and made many, many friends throughout this state over the years. He traded in knives, guns or anything else he had.

On May 3, 1947, Paul chose Freda Mae Hale for his partner in life. They walked their last miles together on Sunday being married 64 years. To this union came 3 sons, Keith (Judy) Rose of Ohio, Larry (Ann) Rose of Berea and Randell (Maxine) Rose of Paint Lick, 5 grandchildren Sherri Rose of Ohio, 3 grandsons Brian (Stacy) Rose of Ohio, Eric (Linsay) Rose of Richmond and Jordan Rose of Paint Lick, one step-grandson Jeffery Scott Sparks of Paint Lick. He also leaves behind 3 great granddaughters Emily, Madalyn and Katie Rose all of Ohio and one step great grandson Logan Sparks of Paint Lick.

Paul was preceded in death 4 brothers and 3 sisters, Tom Farris, Herman, Beverage, Walter “Ted” Rose, Marjorie Brockman, Juanita Miles and Ophilia Witt.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews Brian Rose, Eric Rose, Jordan Rose, Ralph Miles, Ronnie Rose and Mike Witt.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Saturday November 26, 2011 at Lakes Funeral Home in Berea with Rev. Leonard Wilder officiating and Harold Hale assisting. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-9 pm at the funeral home.

A man of few words, Paul will be greatly missed.

Ruby McMaine

WACO — Ruby Jean Fike McMaine, age 66, of College Hill Road in Waco, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011, in her home following a short illness. She was born April 6, 1945, in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Ernest and Rosie Belle Lynch Fike. She was a retired employee of the Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center and was a member of the South Irvine Christian Church. She had lived in Waco most of her life.

She is survived by: her husband, Carl O. McMcMaine, Jr.; her daughter, Tammy D. Cox and husband, Kenny of Estill County; her son, Carl Wayne McMaine and wife, Melissa of Estill County; three sisters, Ruth Thacker, Christine Smyth and Elizabeth Annette Fike, all of Estill County; five grandchildren, Seth McIntosh, Tanner Harrison, Amanda Harrison, Samantha McMaine and Shannon McMaine; one step-grandchild, Anna Robinson; one great grandchild, Lexi McIntosh; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: a sister, Geneva Fike; and a brother, Price Fike.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 23 at 1 p.m. at the South Irvine Christian Church by Bro. Jim Thacker. Burial will be at the South Irvine Cemetery. Friends may call between 6 and 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home.
