Matthew Brandon Meadows age 26 of Mary Street, passed away Sunday August 7, 2011.

Matthew was born in San Bernardino, CA to Linda Tiger Meadows and Tony Meadows. In addition to his parents he is also survived by his siblings Anthony Meadows, Jeremy Meadows, Misty Meadows and Christopher Meadows, maternal grandparents Margaret and James Tiger, paternal grandparents Nancy and Charles Meadows, one niece Baylee Blasdell, one nephew Jackson Meadows and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be 12:30 pm Friday August 12, 2011 at Crestview Holy Sanctuary with Rev. Darnell Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-9 pm at Crestview Holy Sanctuary.

Stephen Wheeler Jett

Louisville — Stephen Wheeler Jett, 40, of Louisville, formerly of Richmond, died Aug. 10, 2011.

A visitation celebrating the life of Stephen took place Sunday. A private burial ceremony will take place for the family at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville.

There will be a celebration of his life at a later date conducted in Richmond.
Ratterman Funeral Home in Louisville is handling arrangements.

Dr. Thomas Leeven Keefe

RICHMOND — Dr. Thomas Leeven Keefe, 74, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2011, in Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center in Richmond. He was the husband of Patricia Kelley Keefe.

Dr. Keefe was born January 22, 1937, in Columbia, S.C., and was the son of Otis Ree and Nellie Mae Gist Keefe, both of whom preceded him in death. He received his doctorate degree from the University of Georgia and retired from Eastern Kentucky University as a professor in the biology department. He was a member of St. Mark Roman Catholic Church. Dr. Keefe was a member of the Naval Reserve and Phi Sigma (Biology Honor Society), and had been active in the Boy Scouts for many years.

In addition to his wife, Dr. Keefe is survived by: four sons, Sean Andrew Keefe (Sonya), of W.Va., Ian O””Neil Keefe (Kimberly) of South Carolina, Colin Ree Keefe (Rebekah) of Kentucky, and Kevin Mitchell Keefe (Sarah) of Ohio; nine grandchildren, Bryan Hunter Keefe, Kyle Andrew Keefe, Johnathan Douglas Keefe, Nathan Riley Keefe, Bridget Danielle Keefe, Emily Logan Keefe, Brandon Nicholas Keefe, Erin Elizabeth Keefe and Owen Thomas Keefe; and one sister, JoAnn Wilkerson of South Carolina. He was preceded in death by: his brother, Douglas O””Neil Keefe; and grandson, Coleman Thomas Keefe.

A funeral mass for Dr. Thomas L. Keefe will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at St. Mark Roman Catholic Church in Richmond, with Father Jim Sichko officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at Madison County Memorial Gardens.

Randall Gordon ‘Randy’ Crawford

RICHMOND — Randall Gordon “Randy” Crawford, 55, of Secretariat Dr., passed away Friday morning, August 12, 2011, in his home. Mr. Crawford was born in Williamson, W.Va., August 5, 1956, to Frank and Sue Kennedy Crawford. He was a retired salesman for Subaru.

Survivors include: his son, Justin Crawford of Richmond; his father, Frank Crawford; his sister, Grace Robertson (Joe); and his nieces and nephews, Nicole Clay (James), Emily Masters (John), Joey Robertson, Jessica James and Ashley Neff (Jeremy) He was preceded in death by: his mother, Sue Kennedy Crawford; and two sisters, Vicki Olds and Cindy James.

The funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Martin Frazer officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Willoughby, Benny Hatfield, Calvin Davis, Tim McHone, Jarid Patterson, Bob Goins, Jimmy Kelly, Kenny Hayes, Jerry Brooking, Big Al Scanlon and his nieces and nephews.

Chester William “Bud” Preston

RICHMOND — Chester William “Bud” Preston, 59, passed away Friday, August 12, 2011, in Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center.

He was born October 29, 1951, the son of Chester William and Bella Mae Wren Preston. He was a graduate of Madison Central High School and had worked as a sales clerk for Purkey & Davis and was a former employee of Tokico. He was a part-time driver for OK Cab Co.

Survivors include: his wife, Betty Spivey Preston; a son, Jason Preston; three stepchildren, Roger Spivey, Randall Spivey and Sheila Craig; three brothers, Jim Preston of Berea, M.C. Collins of Berea and Phillip Pace of Irvine; two sisters, Donna Webb of Berea and Donna Cobb of Lancaster; one grandson, Adam Lee Preston; two stepgrandchildren, Kevin and Chris Spivey; several nieces, nephews and lots of friends. He was preceded in death by: a brother, Paul Pace.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, August 15, 2011, at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Wade Coyle officiating. Burial will follow in Berea Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Preston, Phillip Pace, Travis Preston, Logan Preston, Kevin Spivey and Chris Spivey.

Paul Burnam ‘Big O’ Oliver

RICHMOND — Paul Burnam “Big O” Oliver, 72, of Poosey Ridge Road, peacefully went to be with our Lord, surrounded by the love of his family, Friday morning at 4:20 a.m., August 12, 2011, in Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.

Paul was born on a Saturday, June 10, 1939, at Bradshaw Mill in Madison County. The oldest son of the late Hallie and Leamon Lorn Oliver, Sr., he was a union carpenter and drywall finisher with local union No. 1650. Paul was a 1958 graduate of Madison Central High School and member of the Protestant faith. Before his illness, he loved fishing, hunting and reminiscing about years gone by with family and friends. Also unknown to many, Paul was an artist.

Paul is survived by: his loving wife, of 45 years, Ramonda Kae Kinman Oliver, whom he married October 30, 1965. He is also survived by: two daughters, Robin Lynn Abner (Jeff Medley) of Sarasota , Fla., and Kathy Marie Lawson (Buck) of Poosey Ridge; one son, Bobby Kinman Oliver (Eva) of Lexington, Ky.; one brother, Leamon Oliver, Jr. (Patricia) of Poosey Ridge; one sister, Shelia Ann Sisk of Southaven, Miss.; four granddaughters, Andrea Marie Coe (Bob) of Port Orange, Fla., Angie Rose Deaton (Ronnie) of Beattyville, Ky., Danielle Lea Abner (Travis) of North Port, Fla., and Rhoda Avanelle Kaelynn Lawson of Poosey Ridge; and seven great-grandchildren, Shane Patrick Abner Duggan, Allysa Lynn Marie Coe, Parker Hamilton Coe, Brittany Christina Nacole Giordano, Jada Christine Hodges, Elizabeth Danielle Mae Deaton and Sariah Victoria Lynn Frymier; one uncle, Benny Botts; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 15, 2011, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Bill Graves and Rick Horn officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home.

Herbert Renfro

NEW CARLISLE, OHIO — Herbert Hoover Renfro, 82, of New Carlisle, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2011. He was born Oct. 25, 1928, in Richmond, Ky., the son of the late James L. and Winnie C. (Brinegar) Renfro. He worked at Eastern Kentucky University and retired from Scarff’s Nursery. He is survived by: his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Mae (Click) Renfro; children, Bruce and Debra Renfro of Medway, Patsy Jane Renfro of New Carlisle; four grandchildren, Regina & Stephen Bell, Jeremy and Marla Renfro, Ryan and Julie Renfro, Amy and Donnie Stroup; great granddaughter, Seraphina Bell; three brothers, Charles and Sue Renfro, Ralph and Florine Renfro, Bobby Renfro; a sister, Patricia and Harold Cain; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by: a son, Herbert Renfro Jr.; four brothers, Harold, James, Bert and Everett Renfro; three sisters, Edith Renfro, Joy Hoskins Spickard and Betty Renfro Scott.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2011, at the Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar and Fraley Funeral Home, New Carlisle, Ohio, with visitation one hour prior in the funeral home. GARRARD COUNTY — Ray Johnson, 61, of Garrard County, died Saturday, August 6, 2011.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 12, 2011, at Freedom Baptist Church in Garrard County. Burial will follow at Camp Nelson Cemetery with Military Honors.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011, at Freedom Baptist Church in Garrard County.

Violet Irene Todd Stephens

RICHMOND — Violet Irene Todd Stephens, 86, widow of Maurice Stephens died Sunday Aug. 7, 2011. Violet was a homemaker and farmer, and member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Berea, she was also active in many Homemakers groups and had many talents and hobbies, she loved to paint, quilt, do crafts and loved to work in her flower garden.

Violet is survived by: her children, Burton (Diane) Stephens of Rockcastle County and Sue (Sherman) Ponder of Berea; her brother, Johnny (Mary Lee) Todd of Berea; and her grandchildren, Kenny (Connie) Stephens, Leann (Bryan) Simpson and Matthew Stephens; great-grandchildren, Blake Simpson, Addison Simpson and Ayden Simpson; stepgreat-grandchildren, Jamie (Aaron) Banther and Dustin Hazelwood; and stepgreat-great-grandchild, Keenan Banther.

Violet was preceded in death by: her parents, Roy Everett and Cora Denna Gatliff Todd; her husband, Maurice Stephens and her brother C.B. Todd.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Lakes Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenny Davis and the Rev. Billy Long officiating. Burial will be in the Macedonia Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Paul Coomer, Jimmy Todd, Larry Todd, Ken Lakes, Todd Wilson, Bryan Simpson, and David Olinger. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Todd, John Amos Anglin, Dustin Hazelwood, Blake Simpson, and Addison Simpson. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Lakes Funeral Home.

Donna Raye Bamford Bond

RICHMOND — Donna Raye Bamford Bond, 63, of Turpin Drive, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2011, in the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. Mrs. Bond was born in Medford, Miss., August 13, 1947, to Leo and Elizabeth Zebraska Bamford.

Survivors include: two sons, Jeffrey Braner of Clarkson, Mich., and Richard Braner (Shauna) of Chatham, Ill.; her mother, Elizabeth Bamford; her sister, Mari Spence (Dave); sister-in-law, Vera Bamford; and seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Bond was preceded in death by: her husband, Luther James Bond; her father, Leo Bamford; her son, Bradley Braner; and her brother, Richard Bamford.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Salem Cemetery in Estill County. Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
