The Berea Volunteer Firefighters had a beautiful day for The Blast from the Past Car Show Saturday. There were 80 entries including trucks and motorcycles. The event was held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on North Broadway in Old Town Berea with many townspeople and tourist strolling the street to admire the classic cars and trucks. Several took advantage of the Old Town gift shops, browsing the stores for unique handcrafted gift items. There were many door prizes for the car show participants and several plaques and trophies given out for various categories including, Best in Class, Best Veteran Car, Best Motorcycle, Best Rat Rod and an Overall special trophy to a particular entry, given out by DJ Iceman and voted on by a Classic Car Association. The winner of the Overall special 3 feet tall trophy went to Mike Robinson of Berea, Mike had entered his 1950 Chevrolet pick-up. He will then be voted on by the public in January, 2012 in Lexington competing against 17 others. The Berea Welcome Center funded the event and all proceeds go to the Berea Volunteer Fire Department which consists of 25 firefighters.
