The Madison County Health Department Breastfeeding Support Team is offering a free “Babies Best Start” session on Thursday, June 9th at 5:30 PM. The session will be in the health department’s administrative building at 216 Boggs Lane, Richmond.
Breastfeeding can be a positive experience for many reasons. It offers a special opportunity to bond with baby. It provides unique nutrition and antibodies to protect infants from several types of illnesses. It is free and saves the high cost of formula. Mothers who breastfeed also experience health benefits, including reduced risk of breast cancer and type 2 diabetes.
Libby Hess, RN, and Becky Rearick, RN, will be leading the session. Both have personal and professional experience with breastfeeding and can provide insight and encouragement for new mothers and for expectant mothers who are thinking of breastfeeding their babies.
