Hildred Brandenburg Hart, 89, of Berea, died Monday, April 24, 2017 at the Berea Health & Rehab Center. She was a Berea native born November 24, 1927, daughter of the late Harvey and Laura Ray Brandenburg.

She was a retired Henderson County School System English Teacher, and returned to Berea after her retirement in 1987. Hildred was a member of Kentucky Retired Teachers Association, American Association of University Women, and Berea Woman’s Club. Cecil Wayne Conn, age 81, widower of Opal Lee Anderkin Conn, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Saint Joseph Hospital in Nicholasville Ky. He was born in Garrard County, Ky. to the late Walter Lee and Bertha Scroggins Conn.

He was a member of the Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Nicholasville, Ky. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco after 22 years of service. Cecil was a part time house painter for over 29 years with his wife Opal a craft they loved doing together. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Cecil is survived by his children, two sons, Darrell Conn, and his wife Christine, of Lexington Ky., Walter Conn, and his wife Tammy, of Nicholasville Ky., one daughter, Mary Frances Conn of Lawrenceburg, Ky., one brother, Harold Edward Conn of Garrard Co., two sisters, Anna Frances Lear of Berea, Ky., and Lucy Kathleen Carpenter of Lancaster Ky., three grandchildren, Maddie Conn, Olivia Conn, Candice Long, three great grandchildren, Tiffany, Lillian, and Addison Long.

Funeral service will be 1:00pm Saturday April 8, 2017 at Davis and Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Lakes and Rev. Jim Cook officiating. Burial will follow in the Scaffold Cane Cemetery in Rockcastle County. Visitation will be 5-9pm Friday at the funeral home.

Other than his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Doug Wells.

Funeral services will be 2:00pm Wednesday April 5, 2017 with Rev. Darrell Eden officiating. Burial will follow in the Creech Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9pm Tuesday April 4, 2017. Davis and Powell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
