Bobby Kendall Ross, age 80, died Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, KY., a native of Booneville, KY., he was born March 18th, 1937 to the late Matt and Rachel Mayes Ross.

Dorothy Faye Phillips, age 63, passed away Tuesday Nov. 14, 2017 at her residence in Mt Vernon. She was born Jan. 10, 1954 in Berea Ky.

Dorothy enjoyed raising a garden, growing flowers, making crafts, and loved to play Bingo. Dorothy was of the Holiness faith.

Paul Irvin Combs, 57, of Berea, died suddenly Sunday, November 12, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital-Main, Lexington of complication following a heart attack. He was a Hazard, Kentucky (Perry County) native born December 27, 1959, son of the late Dilce and Euna Lamb Combs.

Linda Ray was a graduate of Berea High School and Berea College. She retired from the Public Relations department at Berea College, was of the Christian faith, loved to spend time with her grandchildren, work crossword puzzles, vintage movies and going out with her friends. Joe J. Higgins, age 91, died June 30, 2017, at his home in Cupertino, California, and he will be buried in Berea Cemetery on Saturday, October 21, 2017. Mr. Higgins was born December 21, 1925, in Magoffin County, KY, to the late Troy and Bonnie Lindon Higgins.

He attended high school in Berea, and then joined the Army and was sent to Europe during the final year of WW II. On his return to the United States, Mr. Higgins joined the recently formed U.S. Air Force, and he served in the Air Force for the next twenty years, through the Korean War and the Viet Nam War (during which he spent time in Southeast Asia).
