Bill Helton Jr.
Bill “Big Bill” Helton Jr. passed away peacefully Oct. 1, 2018, with his children by his side. He was born in Garrett County, Ky., on April 5, 1943, to Bill and Cynthia Helton. He grew up in the Dowagiac area.
He met the love of his life, Diana Postelli, and they married Nov. 9, 1963. He worked and retired from Clark Equipment, and later he and Diana opened DD’s Trading Post. He always had a bologna sandwich for anyone hungry.
He is survived by his daughter, Laura (J. Shannon) Helton-Adams and their children, Jonathon and Shanna; his son, William Helton and his daughter, Caroline; his brother, C. Robert (Rebecca) Helton of Richmond, KY, his sisters: Janie (Robert) Lake, Etta (Roscoe) Asher, Edna (Bennie) Johnson; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Diana; his sisters, Rosemaire and Loutisha; and brother, Johnny.
Upon his wishes, cremation has taken place. Laura and Billy will have cake and punch at DD’s Trading Post, 1201 Pipestone Road, Benton Harbor, at 2 p.m. Oct. 8. Come bring a fun memory of dad.
Anna Marie Cole
Anna Marie Hall Cole, age 58, wife of Jon Cole died Wednesday October 3, 2018 at Bluegrass Hospice Care Center/ UK Medical Center in Lexington. Mrs. Cole was born July 30, 1960 in Harlan County to the late Charles Vernon and Cora Loretta Adams Hall.
Mrs. Cole was a retired registered nurse, loved to cook, loved car racing, especially dirt track, loved singing for the Lord, was a member of the One Accord Gospel Group and a member of the Church of God – New Vision Church.
Other than her parents Mrs. Cole was preceded in death by a grandson Austin Boggs, and two brothers Randy and Eddie Hall.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Cole is survived by two sons, Willis Boggs, of Harlan County, Ky., Kevin Boggs of Mount Vernon, Ky., a step daughter, Tina Cole, of Waco Ky., two brothers, Robert Hall, of Harrodsburg, Ky., Vernon Hall, of Harlan County, Ky., a sister Donna Hall of Berea, Ky., and four grandchildren, Hayle Boggs, Elizabeth Cole, Emma Rowe, and Toby Rowe.
Funeral services will be 1:00PM Tuesday October 8, 2018 at Church on The Rock with Bro. Darrell Eden officiating. Burial will follow in the Pilot Knob Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9PM Monday October 7, 2018 at the church. Davis & Powell Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Mary Bowman age 74, wife of Arthur Bowman, died Wednesday Oct. 3, 2018 at the Berea Health Care Center. Mary was born in Rockcastle County to the late Tommy and Stella Montgomery Dees.
Mary was also preceded in death by her siblings Annie Pearson, Nora Poynter, Jim Dees, Steve Dees, and Ida Mae VanWinkle.
Mary is survived by her children: Beverly (Paul) McDaniel, Loraine (Alan) Rose, Faye (Gordon) Hisle, and Loretta Alexander, her siblings: Myrtle Rudie, Sue Bowman, Lillian Allen, and Donald Dees, 10 grandchildren, and several great and great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday Oct. 9, 2018 from 6-9 pm and a memorial service will be Wednesday at 2 pm at Lakes Funeral Home Berea, Bro. Butch Payne will be officiating.
Perry Tom Riley
Perry Tom Riley, 84, of Paint Lick, died Monday, October 1, 2018 at VA Medical Center in Lexington. He was a Randolph, Indiana native born August 27th, 1934 son of the late Artie and Edward R. Riley.
He was a former construction superintendent and laborer for Setzer Construction, D&O Builders and Condecore Construction, and a well known and loved server and cashier at Better Burgers and More of Richmond, a United States Army Veteran who served in the Philippines, and member of Living Waters Sanctuary Church.
Survivors include 5 children; Lonnie David Lewis, Diana Burns, Alan “Pete” Riley (Elizabeth), Sharon Isaacs (Mike), Michael Riley; sister Doris Brown; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous relatives, friends, and his church family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Ruby Evans Riley; 1 son, Perry Riley; 4 great grandchildren, Regina Allen, Perry Pingleton, William Burns, Rebecca Pingleton; 1 great grandson, Dylan Lewis; and siblings; Marie Brown, Mildred Riley, Dorothy Riley, Edward Riley, Jr., Johnnie Riley, Janie Riley, Donald Riley and Edna Banks.
Funeral Service 11:00 am, Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Living Waters Sanctuary Church with Pastor Dale Holman and Deacon Steve Kidwell officiating. Marietta “Mary” Tipton, 82, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. Mrs. Tipton was born on April 26, 1936 in Richmond, and was the daughter of Virgil and Ann Stevens Smith.
She had worked as a nurse at Pattie A. Clay Hospital and was a member of Union City Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and loved her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Glenn Tipton.
Survivors include: two sons, Mike Tipton and Steve Tipton (Michelle), both of Richmond; two grandsons, Derek Michael Tipton (Jessica) and Joshua Steven Tipton (Jessica); and three great grandchildren, Holden Glenn Tipton, Addison Moses, and Landon Moses.
Funeral Services for Marietta Tipton will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Pastor Virgil Grant officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Barger, Jeff Taylor, Derick Daugherty, Kevin Bowlin, Derek Tipton, and Joshua Tipton. Earl Bowlin will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Robert Franklin Unthank
Robert Franklin Unthank, 67, husband of Thelma Louise Sutton Unthank, passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 at his home. Robert was born June 25, 1951, in Harlan, Ky to the late Jordan and Ramona Morrow Unthank.
He was a retiree and member of White Oak Pond Christian Church.
Other than his wife Thelma, he is survived one son, Brian Sharp (Sarah) Unthank of Cincinnati, OH; one daughter, Brittany Michelle Unthank of Richmond, KY, three sisters, Becky Bebarry, Charlene Fisk, Meg Cottingham; two grandchildren, Delaney Unthank and Dempsey Unthank; as well as his aunt and uncle Frank and Mary Morrow; an aunt, Diane Unthank, and his cousins, Charles Morrow and Mark Morrow.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with Dr. Rev. Russell Rechenbach and Rev. Chad Snellgrove. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday October 3, 2018 at the Funeral Home.

Ruby Katherine Shanks
Mrs. Ruby Katherine Shanks, 75, of Richmond, passed away on Wednesday morning, October 3, 2018 at the Madison Health and Rehab Center in Richmond. She was born on November 23, 1942 in Madison County to the late Leonard and Alma Begley Hill.
She was a self employed private duty care giver and enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with her family. Most importantly, she loved the Lord and was a member of the Livestone Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include: her husband, James Arthur Shanks; two sons, David Dwayne Ballard and Danny Allen Renfro (Robin); one daughter, Dianna Wieloszynski (Stephen); one step-son, Jimmy Shanks (Pat); three sisters, Judy Hillard, Ida Brown (Roy) and Linda Scott (Benny); six grandchildren, Christopher, Ashley, Derrick, Nikki, Chase and Charis; five step-grandchildren, Justin, Natasha, Dylan, Krystopher and Devin; three great-grandchildren, Ashtyn, James, and Gavin, and one on the way; three step-great-grandchildren, Jagger, Jeremiah, Georgia, and one on the way; as well as a host of other extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Fred Ballard.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:30 AM Saturday, October 6, 2018, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St, with Rev. Jay Davis and Rev. Jeff Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5-9 PM Friday evening, at the funeral home.

David M. Irvin, 71, the widower of Shirley Mathews Irvin, passed away Tuesday morning, October 2, 2018, at the Compassionate Care Center. David the son of the late George and Ruth Carpenter Irvin, was born in Berea on May 12, 1947.
He was a retired factory maintenance electrician.
Survivors include a daughter: Donna Louise Roop (Gary); three grandchildren: David Scott Colbenson, Jessica Rae Colbenson and John Wesley Willis; one brother: Clay Irvin, and several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son: James David Irvin.

Beverly A. Tracy
Mrs. Beverly A. Sparks Tracy, 74, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Baptist Health – Richmond. Mrs. Tracy, the daughter of the late Pleas Sparks and Mary Hollingsworth Sparks, was born in Madison County on October 13, 1943.
She retired from Pattie A. Clay Hospital but had also worked for Robinson Tool & Die and Madison County Sheriff’s Department. She loved visiting with friends and neighbors and was a great U.K. basketball fan. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
On June 25, 1965, Mrs. Sparks united in marriage to Leslie Elwood Tracy and they recently celebrated 53 years of marriage.
Other survivors include one son and daughter-in-law: Spencer and Gretchen Tracy; one daughter and son-in-law: Gail and Benny Ray Edwards; her brother: Jerry Sparks; two sisters: Marjorie Pearson and husband Jasper and Stella McCay and husband Danny; four grandchildren: Reece Edwards, Riley Edwards, Sydney Tracy and Reagan Tracy.
Mrs. Tracy was also preceded in death by her brothers: Charles Sparks and Kenneth Sparks and her sister: Irene Price.

Sabra Elizabeth Lawson
Mrs. Sabra Elizabeth Lawson, 80 of Berea, died Friday, October 5, 2018 in Danville. She was born in Winchester, KY on December 17, 1937 the daughter of Albert and Josephine Hudson Standau.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Pine Hill Baptist Church in London. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed playing piano, flower gardening, cooking, babysitting, and dogs.
She is survived by her son, Terry Lawson and wife Marlene of Wildie; a sister, Linda Standau of Danville; two grandchildren, Ashley Abney and husband Stewart of Louisville, and John Lawson and wife Jessica of Wildie; and three great grandchildren, Eleanor Hudson Abney, Lawson Stone Abney, and John Stewart “Jack” Abney.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Clyde Lawson.
Visitation will take place on October 8, 2018 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Dowell and Martin Funeral Home. Funeral service will be October 8, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Internment will follow at the Scaffold Cane Cemetery.
Ms. Ellen Ambrose, 85 of Berea, died Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington. She was born in Rockcastle County, KY on May 21, 1933 the daughter of Robert and Clesta Mae Croucher Ambrose.
She was a farmer and homemaker and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews including, special niece Gail Coffey Baker and husband Danny; and special great nephew, Ray Anglin and wife Erica and their children, Nevaeh and Kylie; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parentS.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Carlos, William, Wayne, and Donald Ambrose; and four sisters, Bessie Mae Ambrose Barga, Eva “Evie” Marie Ambrose, Thursie Belle Ambrose, and Mary Berniece Ambrose Coffey.

Ivan E. Gordon
Ivan E. Gordon, 40, passed way Wednesday in Richmond. Mr. Gordon was the son of Melvin Gordon and Roxie Hines.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and horses.
Survivors other than his parents include his sons Cody and Jacob, his sister Patricia Rogers, and Connie Dennis.

Claud Jones, age 94, of South Irvine Road in Irvine passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at the Marcum & Wallace Hospital after a short illness. He was born January 25, 1924 in Breathitt County and was the son of the late Thomas Jones and Ella Bach Jones.
He retired from the Bluegrass Army Depot in Richmond and was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was a member the Irvine Masonic Lodge 137 F & AM, 32 Scottish Rite, and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was an Army veteran and served during World War II.

Arthur McIntosh, age 81, of Ticky Fork Drive in Ravenna, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018, at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond after a long illness. He was born May 21, 1937 in Estill County and was the son of the late Willie and Eva Rawlins McIntosh.
He was the former owner of the Ravenna Shell Station, McIntosh junkyard, and a construction worker. He had lived in Estill County most of his life and was a member of Turning Point Apostolic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Tipton McIntosh.
